Sweet History and Bitter Heat

Alone I walked through the crowded hall thinking to myself if Ronnie would be okay. It didn't look like they wanted to hurt him but it was clear he dislikes their company, though I couldn't really do anything with how fast they took off down the hall. I ball up my hand in worry as I lose myself in thought. Eventually it felt as though it was getting easier to walk in the halls and right as I noticed I ran into someone again. I bumped their shoulder and look up to apologize.

"Sorry I wasn't paying attention...." My eyes lock with a pair of lavender. The subdual smell of expensive calone fills my nose as I stand so close to him. My brain froze in all thought as I looked up at him.

'shit.'

I made an awkward smile as I apologized again. "I'm s-sorry Tao, really." I backed away as I fucked my head back to face the direction I was walking. Tao only nodded and continued walking without saying anything.

'That wasn't as bad as I thought.' I breath a sigh of relief only for people to start whispering as the path closed back up.

"Woah, she's lucky"

"Brush with death and said his name casually!?"

People where not being so secretive with how they talked.

'What is this!? Do they think this is the opening to Disney's Beauty and the Beast!? We aren't doing Belle here people!'

I bite my tongue in annoyance and debated with myself if I should say anything. Its getting annoying all this whispering.

"Don't read into it you weirdos-" I started only for someone to cut in.

"Get to class all of you, your in school." An icy tone rang through the hall with the chilling words causing everyone, including me to flinch. I didn't know who it came from till I turned around. There a tall, pale guy stood wearing rectangular frames that protected his icy blue eyes. His dark navy blue hair was short and kept while his uniform was ironed to perfection. And...was that the smell of candy? No I'm pretty sure that's calone.

With shaking legs I push myself to turn back around before we made eye contact. "Thank you." I thanked him with my backed turned as I continued to walk forward.

'I got to get out of here before anything else happens. He is too scary, maybe on the level of Tao?'

"Just head to class." the icy voice rang back as I almost dropped dead of a heart attack. Lord I don't know why today is to stressful, but dang if another thing happens I swear I'm gonna destroy a wall.

I push back my hair before fixing it again. 'Just two more classes.' I changed to myself as I walked into the history class. It was covered in political leaders throughout history, maps of the country and past years writing assignments. The board sat at the front of the class with the desks being spaced out. The teacher sat at their desk near the board and typed away at their laptop.

I sat down near the back, avoiding any unwanted attention for a while. I tested my head against the desk and closed my eyes. The sound of students coming into class grew more and more making it a lull of noise.

"Hello!" Some girls voice could be heard.

'Please don't talk to me.' I scrunched my face and open my eyes. Looking up I saw that...they weren't talking to me. They were talking to the person infront of me. 'I-It wasn't me?' I almost cried tears of joy. Finally I have some peace. The bell rang and I sat back up and stretched. The teacher stood up and addressed the class.

"Hello everyone, welcome to Grove Academy. You all are new students and are apart of our special scholarship program. I hope you all have had a wonderful first day..." From there the teacher introduced themself to the class and started us off on a pretest. It was boring but peaceful. No one said anything to me and I felt like I had finally taken a breather.

The two infront of me passed each other notes between the row as they giggled. I guess this is what it's like to be the eyes from the outside. It was nice, I guess. You weren't involved at all but it was sure entertaining to watch them trying not to get caught.

Thankfully the class went by smoothly, leaving me to head to the last thing of the day, gym. I've dreaded this for so long, I don't feel like running or doing anything but sleeping. I sling my bag over the shoulder and watched the pair infront of me as they started chatting. I walk to the exit of the room, handing in my pretest to the teacher as they stood by the door. Into the bussing hallway I  went, dodging the occasional hold up due to someone standing in the middle of the hall dumbstruck.

'I've been there before but come on, move! Admire the school on the way to class!'

As I tried to figure out were the locker room was I overhear someone wining.

"Oh come on! The door is locked!" The girl kicked the metal door painted white only to stub her toe painfully. "Damnit!" She cursed.

Someone came up behind me and yelled at her. "Dumbass, no one is using the locker rooms! Everyone is in the gym getting uniforms and key cards!" I of course flinched at the sudden appearance of the shouting girl. Turning around I could see the long bright orange hair tied and braided into a ponytail come and smack me in the face. As I rub away the itchy feeling I observed an athletically built girl behind me march towards the girl who kicked the door. The athletic girl slung her bag to one side as her red eyes flashed in annoyance but in some way comfort.

I backed myself away from the two, clearly I shouldn't be here anyways why waist anymore time? Back tracking I try to navigate myself to the front entrance of the gym which was off to the side of the main hall. Two of the six double door where open and I found myself scurrying in before the bell. The gym was really, really big. On the floor the markings for a basketball court could be seen. The walls were of layered bleachers that were stacked in one another, with stair near the entrance to the gym to a second floor. Overhead the second floor opened up with a clearing for what I assumed was the indoor track I read about online. Near the end of the gym more doors could be seen sectioned off leading to different hallways which could lead to the locker rooms, showers, outside track and indoor pool.

Talk about having money. I swear this place is going to end up having something like a frozen yogurt machine at this rate, or one of those fancy vending machines that hand you sushi or something. My eyes trail to the groups forming near the back of the gym, separating the genders from one another. As I made my way over a line started to form infront of a table that had many boxes containing uniforms and locker key cards with lanyards. Everyone held onto their bags as they waited in line, talking to there friends with glee.

That's when I spot her, the Strawberry Bitc- I mean Rebecca. Dang already Mia is rubbing off on me. I try not to make eye contact as I scroll through my phone for new messages.

Bff (Louis): 3 new messages

Bff (Louis): hi :) How's it going?

Bff (Louis): How fancy is the school? Is there any cute boys?

Bff (Louis): You'd hook me up, right? ;)

I didn't know whether or not I should be surprised how fast she asked me about the boys at school. Louis has been through one boy to the next and is currently trying to forget her crazy ex.

Bff (Louis): He actually wants to know if you have any fancy leftovers. To share with us of course ;)

Bff (Louis): That's bull and you know it :^)

Bff (Louis): Lol it fine if you couldn't stash any food today with out judging rich people. But tomorrow you better bring us something

"Next" The teacher at the table yells as the person infront of me flinches. I decided to put my phone away and wait for my turn without spacing out.

As the person infront of me fumbled their clothes the teacher looks at me and nods. "Next in line." I walk up to the table as the teacher eyes her paper. Pictures with names scribbled underneath could be seen as notes are written over the faces who have already gotten their stuff.

"Name?"

"Y/N, L/N"

"Size?"

"(Your size)"

"Let me see your locker card." I reach into my bag and hastily handed it to her. She pulls out a tablet with insertion tabs you could seen for credit and debit cards. She sticks my locker card in and pulls out another, blank card. The blank card is swiped on a separate slot as the light flashes from white to green. "It's sinked up now, write your locker card number onto the blank one. This will help us identify "keys" and return them as soon as we can. The "key" also can't be used if you locker card isn't nearby." She handed me back my cards as she slides some clothes onto the table. I quickly grab them and walk off to the others who were just sitting on the floor. I check my phone again to see any new messages but found nothing else was sent.

'Man I wish Louise went here and Jack.'

The clock ticked by as the day slowly came closer to an end, finally it will be over soon.
