New Blood

Faye frowns.

She is not surprised but one of the things she hates the most is her old name and she knew very well that the person in front of her would definitely use it. Kalen's eyes are as dark as a black hole. His face shows disgust and anger.

The two of them are standing next to each other and it can be seen from their looks that they have both forgotten about the little misunderstanding from yesterday.

Nova watches as Aiden turns and throws his hair back.

"I missed you! Look at you two, still together." Aiden points a finger at them and smiles.

It was certain that both of them were on their guard, they knew that they were outnumbered even though they were two against one.

One wrong move and Nova wouldn't see tomorrow. Aiden notices how only one of them is looking at him, which is Faye.

Kalen stares past him to where Nova is standing. However, Aiden is a bit faster and notices him right away. He turns his head to the girl and laughs. He takes a few steps back and moves behind her.

Aiden grabs her shoulders with his thin fingers and rests his head on hers. He takes in her scent and looks directly at Kalen, whose hands are shaking.

"Come on Kalen. Is this why you came to see me?"

"You know very well that she won't help you with anything," Faye speaks up, noticing Aiden's focus on Kalen.

"My dear Faith. As you well know, I'm not someone who would ask. If she doesn't want me to go back to that grand celebration and kill everyone who gets in my way, I'd rather do as I say."

"Please, no.." whispers Nova

Aiden is playing with her ponytail and you can see that he is enjoying having the upper hand. There was silence for a moment, both parties just looking at each other nervously except for Aiden who is still smiling.

"Rosemary will never give you what you want, you know that." Faye breaks the silence. Aiden sighs and rolls his eyes. "I didn't ask for any of this. Rosemary will have no choice. As soon as I show her that I'm the one who found the last dream walker."

Nova stops. She didn't move once the entire time. But when the unknown person mentioned something about dream walkers, she broke into a cold sweat. She feels chills down her spine and her pulse quicken.

She has no idea why, no idea what he's talking about, and no idea why she's in the middle of something like this.

She slowly turns her head to Aiden, who looks at her as well. His red eyes stop being full of anger, they look almost scared or nervous. But it only takes a few seconds before Kalen finally speaks.

"You and I know all too well what it's like to be forced into a life you want nothing to do with. Let her go."

But Aiden doesn't budge and shakes his head. "And here's your problem Kalen. Yes, neither of us had a choice, but only one of us was able to adapt and fight for what they wanted."

Kalen knew that he was clearly talking about him. He knew that he would never accept this way of life, but he didn't want to end a normal life of an innocent girl.

Faye angrily looks at Aiden and then back at Kalen to make sure he wasn't going to do something stupid that would get them into more trouble.

"Now if you'll excuse me. Me and ...what's your name again?" he stops and turns his head to the girl standing next to him.

"Nova," she whispers and refuses to look at him.

"Sure sure. Me and Nova here will have to say goodbye to you. We still have a few things to attend to."

Aiden grabs her shoulders, waves towards Faye and Kalen, and in the blink of an eye, they're both gone. A few tree leaves stir where they were both standing, and then the ground seems to collapse on them.

Kalen frantically looks around, but he can't see anything. He grits his teeth, closes his eyes, and slams his fist into the tree next to him with full force. A strong gust of air hits his face and a few pieces of bark fall to the sidewalk. Kalen slowly looks at the hole left by his fist and shakes his hand angrily.

"Shit." he yells. "How the hell did he get back?!"

Faye folds her arms over her chest and glares at him. "I told you several times that you can't trust witches."

"They said, that Aiden has decided to stay with the other vampires in Ashwick! They said he had no reason to stay here!" Kalen raises his voice.

Faye is quiet, looking off to the side and thinking but Kalen is pacing back and forth trying to figure out the only reason the witches lied to him all these years.

Kalen and Faye were part of the witches along with the other vampires back when Rosemary was still alive.

However, Faye decided to leave much earlier than Kalen and they lost all contact with each other for years.

"We have to find that witch huh?" Faye asks and sighs.

Nova can still feel Aiden's hands on her shoulders. She slowly opens her eyes and notices a long lit corridor inside a building she doesn't recognize.

She didn't know where she was or how she got here. She knew vampires had superhuman speed, but experiencing it firsthand was completely different.

The corridor is long and on the wall, she notices a gray wallpaper, which peels off in the corner. Several paintings are scattered right next to each other and she also notices a few cabinets with several framed photos and other small decorations on them.

Aiden is standing next to her with a smile on his face as he looks at the girl looking around.

"Don't settle in too much, we won't be here long," he whispers.

Nova looks at him with an angry expression. "Where are we?"

"Rosemary may be old-fashioned, but she's always had a knack for old decorations like there."

Aiden grabs her arm and leads her with quick steps to the door at the end of the hall. He grabs the bronze handle and opens the door.

It is quite large, perhaps the largest room in the whole house. It has the shape of a rectangle. Two large marble columns stand right next to the entrance, and white leather couches are at the back of the room.

There are also floor lamps next to the sofas. The curtains are light gray and from the windows, you can see out into a large green garden. It looks like a really nice living room, but it has a really ominous feel to it.

She also notices two doors on each side of the room.

Nova and Aiden enter the room and look around.

However, no one is here, which seems much worse than if someone was already waiting for them. Nova looks around nervously.

"You don't need to hide!" Aiden raises his voice.

At that moment, the door on their left slowly opens and several girls come out. There is one girl in the middle of them that looks a little different.

She is a little taller than Nova, her hands are behind her back and her fingers are intertwined. She looked young, something around 25 years old maybe. She is wearing a long elegant dark blue dress with a wide skirt that reaches below her knees.

The dress has short sleeves and a neckline with a collar and button fastening. Her short black hair was tied back with a gold hair clip, and a few strands of her hair reached her shoulders.

The other two girls stand to her right and left, stopping in front of Aiden and Nova.

"Rosemary." Aiden says, looking at the girl in the middle in disgust.

Nova frowns and examines her as well. Is this really the witch everyone has been talking about lately? She looks so normal. Her eyes are full of life and determination.

She stands a few steps in front of them, her elegant figure appearing very friendly. It doesn't take long, however, for several more people to come out of the other door, stopping behind Rosemary and her two loyal maids.

It was clear that everyone knew each other except for Nova.

"Aiden. We weren't expecting you so soon. Welcome back." says Rosemary in a noble and calm tone. She glances at Nova crouching next to Aiden.

"Don't try that crap on me. I'm here for what you promised me."

Rosemary puts her hand over her mouth and laughs. "Oh, my child. You will get everything you asked for. When the time is right."

But this infuriates him even more. His eyes turn from red to black within seconds.

The whites of his eyes turn a dark gray and Nova notices his sharp fangs headed straight for her neck. Aiden stands behind her, holding her shoulder with one hand and gently gripping her neck with the other.

Nova closes her eyes in fright and trembles. Rosemary, standing still in her place, shows no reaction at all.

"I won't play your little game, not anymore! Promise me you'll give me what I want and I'll spare her!" Aiden shouts at her, who is a few millimeters from Nova's neck.

Rosemary, however, says nothing, only smiles. The two girls next to her are also silent, and the other people, who are standing not far from them are also just observing everything. Aiden doesn't hesitate and with full force, his sharp fangs dig into Nova's neck.

They pass through her skin with no problem and Nova cries out in pain.

She feels her blood pulsing in her veins, and feels Aiden holding her tightly.

At that moment, Rosemary slowly approaches and softly chuckles. Aiden's eyes widen and he immediately pulls away from Nova.

His body slumps to the shiny floor and he grabs his neck. He begins to choke and his cough begins to worsen. He coughed up a few drops of blood, all the while glaring at Rosemary.

Nova falls to the other side of him and reaches for the bloody gash on her neck with one hand.

But when she notices her blood dripping onto the floor, her eyes widen and her breathing quickens like never before. This had never happened to her. She and Aiden look at each other blankly and then back at Rosemary, who gracefully bends over both of them.

Everyone looks at the beautiful silver blood glistening on the marble floor.
