Rosemary extends her long, skinny fingers to the girl who sits chained to a wooden chair not far from her.
Disgusted, Faye turns her head to the other side to avoid her touch, which she succeeds for a brief moment, but Rosemary touches her anyway, tucking a few strands of her hair that were crawling into her face behind her ear.
"You don't have to be so afraid of me, we were friends, weren't we Faith?"
"That is not my name anymore."
"Ah forgive me, I didn't mean it badly. I just thought I'd honor your father's memory. His daughter has quite a problem with it, so I thought I'd do something nice. I apologize."
"He's not my father," Faye says quietly, lowering her head.
"Tell me something. Why did you leave? You knew that one day I'd come back and so would you. That was our deal, remember?"
"What are you talking about?"
Rosemary turns her head to the silver tray beside her and begins to examine the various items she has prepared.
However, Faye remains silent, her eyes fixed on the stone wall but out of the corner of her eye she saw Rosemary reaching for the tray and picking up a small silver dagger with a very beautifully decorated handle.
A small shiny stone sits in the center and the blade glistens under the soft sunlight that shines into the room through the small window.
"You were one of my best soldiers Faith. Don't you miss the times when you fought for something as big as total control over someone who hurt you and made fun of you your whole life?"
"That's not life." Faye turns on her again and frowns.
"And yet you enjoyed it so much. Maybe you forgot what it's like because you stopped believing in what our group is fighting for. We want peace Faith."
"Peace?! Don't play God's messenger Rosemary. We both know very well what you are after, you have never been interested in the people around you. Everyone who works for you will end up dead one day just because they know you. You destroyed your family for god's sake. It was because of you that this town lost the peace agreement between witches and humans. Because you were so blinded by a false belief."
Rosemary frowns for a small moment. "My mistress was worried it would ruin her plan. I would sacrifice everything for her."
"Why? Why would you help someone like her?! She was a psycho!" Faye yells angrily.
There were a lot of things Rosemary could bury deep inside. Other people's opinions and insults about her. Doubting her abilities, her faith, or just that she is a bad person.
Fights, murders, and arguments did nothing to her, she always looked at everything with her head held high and absorbed everything inside herself.
There is only one thing that has managed to awaken her dark side.
Rosemary stares into Faye's eyes. Her gaze is filled with hatred, and her hand tightly grips the silver dagger. The innocent and fake smile is no longer visible on her face.
With a quick movement of her arm, she thrusts the small dagger straight into Faye's stomach.
Rosemary knew what she was doing, she didn't stab her that deep, but she was sure it caused Faye hellish pain.
Faye cries out in pain and her body begins to shake. She pulls hard on the shackles several times and tries to kick with her legs.
"What...what's happening…why is it not." she cries.
Rosemary has a sinister smile on her face and as she pulls the dagger from Faye she stares at the narrow blade now covered in vampire blood.
Her eyes flash and she runs one finger over the blade.
"I've always been amazed by vampire blood. So fascinating. It looks exactly like human blood, but if you look closely you'll see a slight difference in consistency. Such an enchanting color." says Rosemary who is in a trance from the flowing blood.
"Why...why did..."
"Oh I'm sorry, maybe I forgot to mention one little thing."
Rosemary shakes her head and firmly grabs Faye's head with her other hand, lifting her up to get a better look.
"This really old dagger is one of the last things left behind by the dream walkers. What may not be known is that not only was their blood toxic to almost everyone, but it is what helped my mistress to create your species. And as they say, witches can't allow anything to upset the balance of nature, and that's why every vampire must have a weakness, something that brings them to their knees."
"What...what are you talking about?"
"Like I said. There must not be a single being in the world that does not have at least one weakness. Apparently, vampires have quite a few of them. I apologize Faith, but this wound won't heal as fast as you're used to."
Rosemary points the silver dagger at her stomach and smiles. Faye watches as dark red blood pours from her stomach, staining her thighs and the stone floor. A sharp pain shoots through her body. and with her heavy head, she looks back at Rosemary.
"Go to hell. You and Selene!" she says with the little piece of strength she had left.
"If it goes like this, your friends won't even need 48 hours. I know this dagger can't kill you, but I know a million ways how to get close. My mistress taught me everything I know and she was the best when it came to torture."
Nova walks around the corner and hears both vampires behind her. Their footsteps echo down the empty street and Nova can feel the tension building between Aiden and Kalen with every step.
Aiden runs his fingers through his long hair a few times, trying to get all the knots out of it that were formed when he tackled Kalen who is looking away from him and trying to calm his thoughts.
Nova has her head down and has no idea what emotions she should be feeling. She was scared, but not because of what might happen to her. She didn't care about that.
She doesn't want anything to happen to Rosalie and Faye, she couldn't take another loss and she's trying not to even think about Kai at the moment.
All the questions and doubts were running through her head and she slowly doesn't even know where she is going.
However, at that moment, she feels pressure on her arm and realizes that someone has grabbed her hand.
When she looks up she realizes that Kalen has stopped her and her eyes focus on the figure, that stood before them.
An unknown silhouette of a girl leans against one of the parked cars by the road and her arms are crossed over her chest.
Both boys stand in front of Nova within a second, their chins down. They keep looking toward the unknown silhouette and pay attention to even the slightest movement.
Nova just stands behind them with a confused look and doesn't understand what has happened.
She sees their broad shoulders and notices that both of them are on alert.
"Kalen Emrick and Aiden Marston. It's a big surprise to see the two of you together. The one who pretends not to care and the one who wishes he could pretend." says a rather deep girl's voice in front of them.
A girl who looked the same age as Rosemary steps out of the shadows with the sound of her heels. She is tall and slim, her skin is a beautiful golden brown and her cheeks are full of dark freckles.
Her full lips and dark brown eyes stare directly at the three in front of her, and her wavy auburn hair is tied behind her in a long ponytail.
She puts her hands on her hips and smiles.
Aiden frowns, you can tell he's had enough for today. "Get out of our way. I'm really not in the mood."
However, the girl laughs and heads closer to them without a single thought. Aiden angrily stands in front of her, currently standing inches away from an unknown girl who is the same height as him.
"So brave and charming. Do you think you impressed the girl behind you with that act of confidence?" Her voice is calm and sounds like the girl is making fun of him.
Aiden holds back as much as he can and his hands start to twitch.
At this moment, even the smallest thing could upset him and Nova notices how the girl was still smiling at him.
Nova goes around Kalen who is making sure she is safe. He immediately turns around and watches as Nova approaches Aiden, who is standing a few steps in front of them.
She slowly reaches out and touches Aiden's shoulder but he does not turn his head and his eyes are fixed on the unknown girl.
His entire body was tense and his mind blank.
She grabs him firmly and pushes him to the side with a little force. She glances at Kalen and forces them both to ignore the girl and continue on their way.
Nova is still clutching Aiden's shoulder and pushing him in front of her, Kalen turns a few times to the unknown girl.
"I know what Rosemary sent you for. I also know about the tomb where the ashes can be found." says the girl behind them.
