Chapter 9: Fancy French Apology

After I leave Lycantina, I get back to my apartment building, stewing in the realization that I might like someone who thinks Lycans are beneath humans and shifters. Am I really that pathetic? Or am I just in denial?

I mean, she just has a nice voice. It’s not like she’s my soulmate.

We don’t even believe in mates as Shifters do! Lycans are like humans, we have no alphas or omegas. We just fall in love the old-fashioned way, with Howlr apps and a lot of text-tag.

Though, not all shifters have a soulmark.

Soulmarks are birthmarks that match another Shifters. They’re usually black like tattoo ink. Donovan told me that he had no soulmark, so as the head Alpha of the Callisto pack, he’d be matched up with another highly-ranked Alpha female.

It must be nice to have everything sorted out like that, and not have to worry about not finding someone or putting your love into a match that ends up terribly. Which is why it’s crazy I’m even thinking about either Donovan or Roxy.
