I don’t know where they are taking me. My cage bumps along a road, a carriage totes me somewhere. My head hits the roof when we hit a bump in the road. I’m still shackled. A corner of the tarp flaps every so often, just enough to see the dirt ground. ‘Are they finally ready to set me ablaze?’ At least I’ll be joining my parents, my brothers, and my sisters. All I want is freedom. Sweet freedom from this cage… from this body.
Christopher was with me again last night. He was able to bring me stew, which I slurped down. After I ate and agreed to drink water, Christopher told me he thought he could release me soon. Apparently, he’s been studying the other soldiers’ movements, making sure there's a window for escape.
