Chapter 41

Ina was lying on the cold floor. She couldn't believe what happened not so long ago. The whole situation was being played in her head over and over again. Gabriel fought back and shouted to Ina to run away but she had problems with the horse which simply didn't follow any of her orders. Gabriel was good at fighting but he never really had any chance. It was chaos and the only trying Ina could do was to jump off the horse and shift. It was better to die fighting for freedom than watch those men killing Gabriel and doing nothing. As a wolf he attacked those men and injured two of them before something hit her head and she fell into darkness. She woke up in this room, tied and with a splitting headache. She was still in her wolf form.

It was hard to say how much time had passed before someone opened the door and came to her. It was a servant but Ina could't recognize him.

"You need to get up and shift, or they will kill you immediately." He explained.

Ina nodded, he cut her ties and she shifted, she felt cold.

"Can I have some clothes?" Ina asked.

The servant gave her a simple dress that was a bit oversized but it didn't matter. Ina was walking slowly, her mind was blank. What will they do to her? What happened to Gabriel? She hoped he was still alive. It was her fault, she made him help her. Ina felt guilty.

The bright light blinded her for a moment and she raised her hand to cover her eyes before she got used to the daylight. It wasn't Jiha's house, Ina instantly knew where she was standing. It was Lord Belor's house and she was kept in a small house in the backyard. A place prepared for punishing slaves. She was led through the garden to the main hall. Jiha was sitting there together with Adeline and her father. Jiha looked visibly angered, Adeline had that smirk on her face, she seemed to be pleased. Lord Belor frowned with displeasure at her sight.

"Well well the disobedient Omega. So cherished yet so disloyal to her master." Adeline couldn't hold it in.

"Stop it." Jiha hushed her, looking at Ina. His gaze was cold, she betrayed him and hurt his Alpha pride. His Omega left him for another Alpha.

"Do you know the punishment for a runaway slave?" A clam yet strong voice broke the silence.

Ina looked at Lord Belor who just asked that question. She wanted to say something but her throat twas dry just like the desert she managed to see before this whole hell happened. Because she didn't answer immediately, Lord did it for her.

"Death."

Ina assumed that much. Somehow this information didn't have the strong effect on her as the whole company hoped.

"You made a great mistake hoping you could escape from your masters. You even managed to seduce the best hunter to help you. It's good that such trustworthy servants as Assun exist or else you might have succeeded." Adeline smiled brightly seeing how Inas eyes widened in shock.

Ina was truly surprised, she has considered Assun as her friend. How naive.

"What happened to Gabriel?" She finally managed to form a question.

Jiha glared at her with pure hatred and suddenly stood up abruptly.

"Gabriel will be killed tomorrow, but you shall live."

Adeline looked at Jiha with surprise and disbelief.

"What?"

"Yes, you shall live." Jiha came closer." After all I paid a lot to obtain you, I'll make sure to get my money's worth back. You shall be paired with that slave of yours .." He suddenly turned to Adeline.

"Tar." His wife responded immediately.

"Yes, Tar and I hope you shall give us a few little Alphas and Omegas we can sell later on and after that I will sell you off to a brothel."

Ina's face turned pale. Death was a better solution than such life. She will not submit, not now not ever again.

"You are sick people without a soul. You treat other people like objects thinking that you are so great. This whole magnificent city was built on the graves of slaves like me and is covered with their blood. Such a society will not last forever. You will destroy yourself. I pity you all." She looked at Jiha and added,

"She will never give you what an Omega can. Soon you will look for another one." Ina looked at Adeline and with a bright smile announced. "There will always be another woman in your husband's life. How pathetic." Ina stepped back and shifted. She was wounded and tired but she was a desert wolf and now she had nothing to lose anymore.

Ina run. She ran across the house, passing between the shocked servants who were trying to catch her till she reached the front door. It was closed so she ran to a room on the right and jumped out of the window, crushing the delicate glass.

With a loud thud she landed on the grass and the sharp shreds, yet it didn't stop her. She was at the gate when it opened and familiar distinguished guests stepped in. They were the Rojans from the welcoming party held not long ago.

Ina stopped for a moment trying to find a way out between those two men.

"Don't let her get away." Lord Belor was ordering his servants and almost running to the front gates.

Ina was desperate; she looked at those men ready to jump at them if necessary.

"Just a moment please." One of the Rojans suddenly shouted.

"Isn't this the slave with golden eyes we met here a few days ago?"

Lord Belor stopped and looked at the Rojans who seemed to be moved by this whole situation.

"Yes, she is our slave, a very disobedient one. We shall catch her and in a moment this whole mess will be over." Lord Belor was trying to calm down this awkward situation.

"Not so hasty, we need to check something first. It seems she might be one of ours as she has the royal golden eyes."

Ina froze.
