When It Over

Kalana arrived at her door and her hand trembled over the knob. She had no idea how she was going to handle situation on the other side, but this relationship couldn't continue. A threesome is one thing - she rationalized, but to continue without your partner - that was going too far.

Kalana gather the courage to set her hand down and twist open the door. Andy was naked, passed out on the couch and Miss Jess was no where to be seen.

'How did I end up like this?' She thought to herself. Contemplating what her next move was going to be. 'Everything in this place contaminated!' Standing above Andy, she was completely frozen.

"Why did you do this to me?" She questioned lump on the couch.

"Because he's high," Miss Jess answered as she walked out of the bathroom. "If I had known you weren't into it, I wouldn't have come, but once things got started, it was in your best interest to let me take over like I did."

Kalana nearly jumped out of her own skin when she first heard Miss Jess. "Who are you to 'take' over my boyfriend?"

"Boyfriend? Hmmm… well he doesn't act like he has a girlfriend at the bar. In fact, he was hooking up with 2 women in front of the bathroom earlier tonight." Miss Jess confessed all she had witnessed.

"So why would you come back with him?" Kalana's tone was flat and emotionless, almost defeated.

"Well, I wanted to have some fun? Do you want to have some fun?" Miss Jess teased with a wink, watching Kalana's face lose color again. "I'm joking. I'm sorry. I don't do well in awkward situations."

"This is awkward?" Kalana's voice now filled with distain. "But rubbing you clit in front of me while I was sleeping was completely natural?"

"Sweetheart, I know this is going to sound bad, but this isn't the first time I've joined him in this type of play. To be honest, I didn't even know you existed. Your man is a slut. Willing to stick his dick in anything with a hole." Miss Jess's words were harsh but apparently true.

"Ho- how long?" Kalana could barely get out.

"With me?" Miss Jess pointed to herself. "Three months. Clearly nothing serious. Just lots of fun, but when he's on E, he gets really aggressive if things don't go his way."

Kalana now understood why Miss Jess took over the way she did, but that doesn't make it right. After all, she's suppose to be the girlfriend. She quickly tried to piece together any information to figure out how she missed the signs. Andy didn't live with her, so it's not like she knew when he was home or not.

"This is so fucked up! And why am I not even mad at you?" She looked Miss Jess straight into her emerald green eyes. Her blonde hair was now red as she slipped off the blonde wig.

"Why would you be mad at me? Like I said, I didn't even know you existed. He's the one you are mad at." Miss Jess pointed to Andy.

She was right. Kalana's body began to shudder as she imagined what he could have been doing behind her back.

She felt dirty.

How many times had she been kissed by him after one of these wild nights?

How many times has he entered her after entering someone else.

After all, they didn't live together. Who knows what he did when he was 'alone?' Who was this person? Certainly not her high school sweetheart. This was a lying, cheating piece of trash. She could feel the nausea taking over. "I need to get out of here. If you're still here when he wakes up, tell him to take his shit and never come back."

She wrote a note and placed it on the coffee table.

She grabbed her keys and stormed out.

...

...

It was now 6 A.M. and Kalana found herself at the diner on the corner of her street. "One coffee, please." She ordered as she found a seat at the counter. She began to feel around her pockets before she realized she only brought her keys and that her phone was probably still hiding underneath the pillow of her bedroom.

"Make that two." Dean ordered behind her. Navigating his way to the seat next to her. "Did you forget you wallet?" He asked.

"No!" She lied. "But if you're offering, I won't say no."

"Sure."

The waitress sat down the two cups of coffee. "Anything else?"

"A Denver with sourdough toast for me and she'll have Bennys, medium. Both with home fries and a side of fruit." He looked at Kalana as his gaze asked if she wanted anything else.

"Yup. That's perfect thank you." Kalana confirming the order with a nod. "How did you know I liked Egg Benedict medium?"

"It was a lucky guess. Plus, who wants their food to be runny when you have last nights make up running down your face?" Dean took the napkin from under the silverware and handed it to Kalana.

"Wow! You certainly are the charmer." She rolled her eyes as she took the napkin and began wiping the edges of her eyes.

They continued to sit in silence, waiting for the food to arrive.

"You kno-"

"I'm so so-"

They both started.

"Sorry, go ahead." Kalana said.

"I was just going to say, you can do better." Dean started, trying to send comfort.

"Thanks. I was just about to say, when this is all over, I'll show you I'm not really like this. This is just a really weird day."

The waitress sat the plates in front of them. "Can I get mine in a box?" Dean asked, "I have a meeting in 30 minutes." Answering Kalana, even though she didn't ask. Placing a $100 down on the bar, "Get the change, but leave a nice tip." The waitress returned with the food packaged and bagged. "Until next time." Dean grabbed the food and walked out.

"Yeah, next time." Kalana's voice trailed. Eating her food, tears started to roll down her cheeks. 'Damn. Why am I crying now?' She thought to herself, while admitting that runny eggs and runny eyes don't go together.

With nowhere to go and no phone in hand, she sat at the counter of the diner until 9 A.M. "I'm sorry." She apologized to the waitress.

"Honey. You're fine. It looks like you've been going through it. I'm off in an hour, so you can hang out until then. The next shift may be annoyed if you are just sitting here." The waitress explained filling her coffee cup for the fifth time. She shot a wink and walked away.

Kalana savored that hour and walked home. She had mentally prepared herself for different scenarios that could happen after she walked through the door, but she knew that this chapter of her life would end one way or another.

This was going to be end of Kalana and Andy.
