Aarav Glowet

PART 1: HISTORY

Aarav Glowet was the boy who was brought from the Human Earth to the Elemental Earth at the age of 9. He was on a different level now. His name was known to every citizen of Elemental World. Aarav just wanted to kill Lord Aynor in revenge. The reasons were personal. Only the higher-ups and Annie, his girlfriend, knew about those apart from him.

He trained day and night. He was ready to apply for a cadet position at the Elemental Army Association also known as E. A. A. The only hurdle left to pass was Battlelyte. He was the student of Master Ellendun so people expected more from him. Many had considered he was sure to get the post of at least an Elite Cadet.

He was working hard for it. Sometimes he trained alone and sometimes with Annie. The schedule was the same every day — morning to evening. He also practised martial arts after that.

His goal was to reach the top of the E. A. A. web and to finally give the order to find & kill Lord Aynor. At present, no one was giving that order because it was like looking for trouble. They were all afraid of war. They believed war must happen when Lord Aynor asks for it, the Association will not start it. But Aarav had his own goal.

Just like every other day, Aarav got ready for training at 6 o'clock in the morning. He got out of his room on the 77th floor of a skyscraper in Capital City. Everyone knew that Capital City was covered under a huge damper network for the safety of the citizens, but there were a few places which were left out. This was done so that Association members can train. This building, in which Aarav lived, was one of those places. The place was Master Ellendun's, but he never came to sleep there.

Aarav took the elevator and reached the roof like every day. He trained, like every other day, while the sun went up. He stopped when a figure walked into the area. The dark blue cloak on his body waved in the wind. His hands tied back. The long robe he was wearing was sweeping the floor.

Aarav walked to him and bowed down.

"Master Ellendun," he greeted, "I'm happy to see you here, is there something important?"

"No-no," said Master Ellendun, fiddling his silver beard, "I was just checking in on my student. And get up, you don't have to bow down every time."

"It's a respectful gesture," said Aarav, getting up.

"Where is Annie?" asked Master Ellendun.

Down in an apartment on the 77th floor, Annie raised up from her bed. The blanket covering her head. Her sixth sense activated when people were about to talk behind her back. In reality, she sensed Master Ellendun's presence. She jumped out of her bed and rushed into the bathroom.

She rushed outside after changing and to the elevator which was on the 30th floor. She knew it would be too late if she waited for the elevator, she made a tired face at the stairs. If she would not show up when Master Ellendun visited, he would think that she was lazy.

Back on the roof, Aarav replied to Master Ellendun,

"She'll be here soon, she has been working harder than ever. Her eyes turned blue yesterday. She's trying hard to keep up."

"Good," said Master Ellendun. "It seems it is taking longer for the change in colour to occur at this stage. It'll be even harder further."

"Add anything to my training," requested Aarav, "I want to use all the Elements before Battlelyte."

"I'm afraid, I can't add anything more, Aarav," said Master Ellendun, "the only thing I can add is rest."

"I cannot rest," said Aarav, "I have to join a higher post at the E. A. A."

"Dear, Aarav, using three Elements flawlessly at this age is more than enough," said Master Ellendun. "You must not skip the steps on your way, you have to struggle on each of them."

"I understand," said Aarav.

"I must take a leave now," said Master Ellendun. "Remember to rest."

The door to the stairs opened and Annie walked to the terrace. She was panting. She had rushed from 10 floors below. Unfortunately, even after her struggle, Master Ellendun had left.

"He is gone already?" she asked Aarav, arranging her hair which she forgot to comb in hurry.

"Yes, Annie," said Aarav, walking towards her. Aarav summoned the elevator and then entered. Annie was baffled by his behaviour, so Aarav said, "Let's go, he asked us to rest."

"Really?" she asked happily, "it's good; my eyes hurt."

She placed her hands near her eyes, pointing at Aarav. For a fraction of a second, her eyes turned from black to blue.

"It's not a test," said Aarav, "walk into the elevator or I'm going alone."

Annie thought it was a plot at first, like the one a few days ago where she was punished to do 20% more training just because she flinched after hearing about a holiday. But when she saw Aarav's smile, she forgot the possibility that it could all be a plot. That guy smiled rarely, his smile was telling the truth, so there was no trap. She walked into the elevator happily.

"Would you like to have a full day date, Annie?" Aarav asked.

Listening to these words was one in a billion chance. Aarav never talked about their relationship. They had only been to one date in their one-year-long relationship. It was her silly heart which made her smile whenever she looked at him or discovered something about him. Annie did not even know why Aarav agreed to be her boyfriend, but he did, that was important to her.

"Yes," she said. She could not control her smile.

PART 2: CAPITAL CITY DATE

It was noon, Aarav and Annie were getting out of a beautiful restaurant. The huge umbrellas were providing a nice dining area outdoors. They were happy. Annie was too happy, enough to walk with Aarav's hand in hers. Aarav might not be saying a word, but he liked Annie very much.

"So, where do you want to visit next?" Aarav asked.

"Um," Annie started thinking, then she said, "let's go to our Academy, Master Kirason would love to see us."

"I don't know," Aarav reacted, "You want to go to Elemental Academy when we are on a date?"

"Yeah," Annie said, "I think we should make this day productive, we can ask Master Kirason and the other faculties about some tips about Battlelyte."

Aarav agreed immediately. Annie was the only person who knew everything about him. She knew Aarav loved to spend time with her, but he also wanted to win the Battlelyte and get the highest possible post in E. A. A.

In the centre of the street, a man came running through the crowd. He had a lady's purse in his hand. He was a mugger. The owner of the purse was chasing him.

"Catch him! He stole my purse!" She yelled in the crowd.

No one paid attention. They heard it but did not do anything. It was the middle of the day, everyone was busy or careless enough to ignore a crime. Aarav ran towards the mugger and intercepted him. He tackled the mugger to make him fall, the purse flew high and Aarav caught it. He walked to the lady and handed it to her.

"Are you foolish enough to interfere?" said the mugger to Aarav.

Aarav said nothing. But when the mugger took a nice look at Aarav's face, he recognised him.

"You're that human, the one brought here long ago," said the mugger. The crowd heard this, they immediately stepped away. The mugger, that woman and Aarav were the only ones left in the circle in the middle of the crowd. Annie made her way in too.

"You fool, how dare you interfere," the mugger said angrily, "your kind is not worth letting live here. I'll beat sense into you."

"Calm down, I don't want to hurt you" said Aarav.

"So what if you are a Master's student?" said the mugger. "Capital City has a damper network, your powers won't work."

"I don't need my powers for a weakling like you," said Aarav.

The mugger attacked Aarav. No matter how hard the mugger tried, he could not land a single hit on Aarav. Aarav was trained in combat. He dodged every attack efficiently.

"I don't want to hurt you," Aarav warned the mugger. But it only made him angry to take another hit, Aarav grabbed the mugger's fist with his right hand and punched him with his left hand. The mugger fell down unconscious.

Annie walked up to Aarav. The crowd started gossiping about how heartlessly Aarav punched the mugger.

"Why are you all still standing here?" Aarav yelled at the crowd, "the show's over. Get back to your inhuman jobs, cowards!"

The crowd had gone silent. They might be wishing to argue but who had the guts?

"This woman was getting robbed here and all you did was look at the crime," said Aarav to the crowd.

"Calm down, Aarav," said Annie. "It has always been like this."

"It doesn't have to be," said Aarav.

The crowd started to disperse. The woman whose purse was stolen thanked Aarav awkwardly as she now knew that he was a human. The police cars started entering the street.

"We might have to change our plans," said Aarav. "The formalities will take hours."

"I don't mind, you did the right thing," said Annie with a lovely smile.

Aarav smiled but something came to his mind so he asked, "Annie, why didn't you deal with it? You could have caught the mugger by yourself."

"Um," Annie started to think, sweat started flowing down her face, she made a weird smile, "you — you didn't need me."

Aarav smiled. He discovered the answer. "You lazy girl, I have seen no one as lazy as you."

"That's right," said Annie holding Aarav's hand, "I am one and only."

PART 3: THE POLICE STATION:

The police station was crowded as always. There were a lot of people complaining and fighting and the staff tried their best to cool everyone down. All the rest they could get was when they drank water from the cooler.

"I hear they have a human in custody?" asked a cop lady .

"Yes, it's true," said the man standing there.

"It's really good, we should keep him in jail for tonight, it would be fun seeing him suffer a little," said the lady cop.

"I wish that happens, but the kid is a big shot, he is Master Ellendun's student, if that's true then it would be difficult to frame him," said the man.

In the office of the Chief, Aarav and Annie were sitting opposite to the Chief.

"I don't understand," said the Chief. "You say you were at Elemental Academy, but I don't see you in the group picture.

Aarav shook his head in disappointment. Annie had to answer for him,

"That's correct. It's because Aarav hates group pictures."

"Then how am I supposed to believe you?" asked the Chief.

"We're Master Ellendun's students," said Annie.

"Are the official documents with you?" asked the Chief.

"No," Annie shook her head. "Those are too big to fit in our pockets on a date."

The Chief made a disappointing face. He looked at Aarav who was silent until now. "Aarav, do you want to say something?"

"I want to, but I'm sure you won't like it," Aarav said, he was annoyed.

"Are you threatening me?" asked the Chief.

"If I wanted to, I'd have destroyed this building long before your eye could see it," said Aarav. The Chief's face was sweating. Everyone knew who Aarav was and what he was capable of. Aarav stood up from his seat and slammed his hand on the desk and said,

"You guys are making me wait here so I can say something which will help you arrest me. But, I can see through your moves. Ever since I came here, 8 years ago, every newspaper is printing about me every other day. You guys know who I am. You know I'm Master Ellendun's student because it was printed on every damn newspaper!"

"Calm down, Mr Glowet," said the Chief.

Aarav did not stop. "You know I was well under my rights as a Master's student to protect a lady from a theft. And the violence started because that thief attacked me first. I just knocked him out. The CCTV footage confirms it. You could have ended this by calling any Master to ask about me, but you wanted to play. But, before you go ahead with your worthless game, consider this, I'd rather go to jail after attacking every one of you than before. And take my word, you can do nothing about it."

Annie looked at Aarav's face, she slapped her own face seeing that Aarav chose to threaten the Chief.

"Okay, let's take a break," Annie said to both the sides.

"I'll call Master Kirason and confirm your status," said the Chief. The Chief knew it would be unjust if he tried to frame Aarav. After Aarav's speech, he realised that Aarav did nothing wrong. And the police had nothing against him. Then the Chief left the room. Aarav sat and drank some water from a glass. Annie burst into laughter. Aarav saw her like that and could not stop a smile on his face.

"What?" asked Aarav sarcastically.

"You handled them pretty well. That's what I love about you, you never lose. You make things work," Annie said. Annie and Aarav came closer and had a quick kiss.

"Well, Master Ellendun once said that one has to act as per the circumstances," said Aarav. He knew how it was true. Sometimes you have to stay scared of others and sometimes you have to scare others.

"Anyway, It was a wonderful date, but what about dinner?" asked Annie.

"Let's have something delivered," said Aarav.

The door to the cabin opened. The Chief walked in. "Master Kirason confirmed your status as Master Ellendun's students. You can leave. Sorry for the inconvenience," he said.

Aarav and Annie got up to leave. Aarav stood in front of the Chief and said,

"I'm sorry for threatening you. I didn't want to."

"It's okay, I understand, the mistake was ours," said the Chief making a handshake with Aarav. He offered something to compensate, "Our car will drop you two at your homes, the media will be crazy outside."

"That's quite generous of you," Annie thanked the man.
