Zeke

"How is he?" I asked when John walked into my office the following morning.

"He's still a little apprehensive about staying here but with time he'll get used to it," John replied and I nodded.

"Does he suspect anything, yet?" I questioned next as I offered him a seat across from my desk but he declined as he remained standing.

"No, but I believe that it would be good for him to know the truth even if he won't believe it at first," he said and I set the pen I was holding down on the desk on top of the file I was looking over before looking back up at him.

"I agree but for now, let him adjust to his new surroundings before he knows anything that may only cause him more panic and will want to run away," I said and he nodded before excusing himself and leaving my office closing the door behind him on his way out leaving me to sit at my desk with the forgotten file.

"If you ever develop feelings for him, please be patient with him and don't break him, please"

I closed my eyes as his voice echoed in my head even if it's been 3 years since so last saw him. Kai was a beautiful person, there was no denying that. He was short for his age standing a little over 5'2 with soft features from his naturally pouty lips, small button nose, and soft curves in the right places. His eyes were what had attracted me the first I ever saw him even if it had been in a photograph that an old friend has shown me. His eyes were such a vibrant color that it took my breath away by just a simple glance at them. His eyes were blue like the sea, crystal clear blue- shimmering and crashing and churning. Looking into his eyes you could hear the waves falling against the shore, and see the foam flying into the air. His eyes were blue like the sky right before the sun disappears- dark rich indigo, with specks of wild colors here and there. His eyes were blue like that warm wool sweater that you put on when the air gets that chill- comfortable, warm, familiar. His eyes were that kind of blue.

I was never one to notice such things in anyone but him. He was different from every person I've ever come across.

"Don't break him, Zeke, please," his voice echoed again in my head and I sighed shaking my head before turning my attention to the field outside my office window and what I saw took my breath away yet again. I knew Kai enjoyed wearing women's clothing more than he likes men's and I can see why. He looked stunning. He wore a simple yet beautiful soft yellow sundress with white flowers decorating the hem of the dress. His blonde hair-though when I first met him was up in a bun-was now down to his mid-back in soft ringlets that framed his delicate face. I bit the inside of my cheek as I watched him sit on the grass and smile as he picked a flower from the garden.

He snapped his head and I raised a brow when I saw him looking towards the left before he scrambled to his feet as one of my maids stormed towards him. I couldn't quite hear what they were saying but I clenched my jaw when I saw her push Kai making him tumble to the ground before being assisted by John who had shown up just a second later. I watched as he yelled at the maid as he held Kai behind him who looked shaken up as he gripped the back of John's jacket with what I believe were trembling hands.

I moved away from the window and walked outside since the yard was just next to my office making all three look up when they saw me. Kai's eyes widened when he noticed me and fear in them made me frown but said nothing instead I looked at the maid who was frozen.

"Is there a reason why you pushed, Mr. Jacobson, Dolores?" I questioned the maid who became incredibly pale before shaking her head,

"I-I didn't push him, Don" she replied through her stutter gave her away making me give her a look that remade her close her mouth.

"Do you think I'm stupid and blind, Dolores?" I asked and she gulped taking a step back as if she were afraid that I'd lash out -believe me, I wanted nothing more than to reach out and punish her for laying a hand on Kai - and began to sputter apologies.

"You upset him, what did you say to him, Dolores" I stated and her eyes widened even more before glancing at Kai with dark brown eyes that made him hide behind John even more, "answer my question Dolores you know hate repeating myself."

"Nothing, Boss, I swear," she said and I looked over at John who has his hands clenched I knew he wanted nothing more than to lash out but he didn't as he stood protectively in front of Kai who was shaking like a leaf.

"John, why don't you take Kai inside and get him a drink to calm his nerves?" I suggested and they both looked at me-John with a look of agreement and Kai with a look of surprise- before John nodded and turned a little to the side so he could see Kai before whispering to him and he nodded and so with that, they both turned and walked back inside the house.

I looked back at Dolores who was now visibly shaking as tears rolled down her cheeks. I clenched my jaw and walked towards her and grabbed her by arm roughly making her whimper in pain, "you take me for a fill, don't you? I watched the way you pushed him just moments before John showed up. I don't know what you do to him but whatever it may be, you ah son right to upset him. If I ever see you lay another finger on him again, Dolores, and I won't hesitate to remove that hand from your body do you underhand me?"

She looked at me with wide fearful eyes and nodded her head, her black hair getting loose by the action, "if I ever hear you calling him names or harassing him for the way he dresses then you'll never see the light of day again, do you understand?"

"Y-yes, Don Zeke" she stuttered and I nodded letting her which caused her to lose her balance and nearly fall to the ground had she not supported herself against the oak tree trunk behind her. I gave her a final glance before turning on my heel and before I walked away I said, "you'll be preparing dinner on your own for the next three weeks, you'll also be cleaning the first and third floors by yourself and you'll be attending to Mr. Kai as his maid for the remainder of his stay here. That is your punishment for harming him."

Then I walked away not giving a rat's ass to see her reaction knowing that she'd be shocked by her punishment. She should count herself lucky that I didn't punish her for longer.

"I'm fine," the soft voice Kai replied and I could tell he was rolling his eyes by the exasperation of his voice.

"Okay, okay. I just wanted to make sure" John replied and I shook my head as I could hear the teasing in his voice.

"You've asked me that at least 20 times in the past 3 minutes, Johnathan" Kai stated and before John could reply I made myself known making them both look in my direction.

"Mister Zeke" Kai murmured looking down while John nodded his head in acknowledgment.

"How are you?" I asked Kai making him look up and bite his bottom lip.

"Like I told John, I'm okay," he said and I nodded.

"Did you hurt yourself anywhere?" I questioned and he shook his head.

"No, she didn't have time to do anything to him since I showed up before she could do anything else to him," John answered and I once again nodded my head.

"I'm glad that nothing happened to you. Dolores has been punished for her actions and will be your maid while you're here" I said as I looked at Kai who widened his eyes before shaking his head.

"It's okay, I don't need a personal maid, I'm good at doing things on my own," he replied rejecting the idea of having someone help him.

"It's part of her punishment, Kai. She treated you badly and she will assume the consequences of her actions. If you're uncomfortable with that then she won't be your maid." I said and he nodded sighing with relief making me smile.

"Thank you," he murmured and I could see a soft shade of pink coat his cheeks making him look even more beautiful than ever.

"For what?" I asked and I could see John walking away.

"I guess for everything," he replied his blue eyes locking with my green ones and I nodded.

"There's no need to thank me, Kai," I said and he nodded, "come, I need to tell you something and I don't wish to speak about it where people may hear."

He frowned but nodded his head as he stood and followed behind me,

"what is it that you need to tell me?" He asked as soon as we reached my office and I had closed the door behind him. One thing I was glad about having an office and bedroom with soundproof doors was that I could hear everything from the outside while no one could near anything from the inside.

I took a deep breath and looked at him and said, "It's about your father."
