Mia?!

Previously:

"How can I slow down?" I asked, " this dream has been haunting me since 3 am "

It feels like I know what the moon goddess was talking about but….

" Mia, baby calm down" Damian interrupts my thoughts. "We will tell you everything soon but for now you will start training with us. Ok?"

"Training?? Why do I have to train? I asked

What kind of training? What's going on? Why don't they tell me what's going on? What are they hiding?

"Mia sweetheart, why don't you go for a walk?, mom suggested "Calm yourself down and when u calm come back home, ok"

I stand up without saying a word and storm out of the house.

They're hiding something and I will find out.

"Sybil, what is going on?" Damian asks.

**Mia’s POV**

Darkness surrounded me, but I felt the warmth of strong arms cradling me, carrying me away from whatever nightmare I had stumbled into. My body was in pain, every inch of it aching, but a small part of me felt relieved—relieved to be safe, to be back with Damian.

Flashes of what happened flickered through my mind, disjointed and confusing. I remembered running, the fear gnawing at me, the heavy footsteps that seemed to echo my every move, and then… nothing. Everything went blank after that.

I wanted to open my eyes, to see Damian, to tell him what I could remember, but my body refused to obey. I was trapped in the darkness, unable to reach out. The pain was a dull throb now, almost comforting in its constancy, reminding me that I was still alive.

Then, through the fog in my mind, I heard voices—familiar, comforting voices. Damian’s, Austin’s, and another one, Clara, I realized. The healer. She was asking about what happened, and Damian was explaining, his voice tight with worry.

I tried to focus on their words, but it was like trying to grasp smoke. Everything was slippery, elusive.

“Damian,” I tried to say, but it came out as a mere whisper, barely audible. I felt the arms around me tense, and then the voices grew closer, more distinct.

“Mia?” Damian’s voice was filled with hope and fear. “Mia, can you hear me?”

I forced my eyes open, the effort monumental. The bright light was blinding, and I winced, turning my head slightly to avoid it.

“Mia,” Damian’s face came into view, his expression a mix of relief and concern. “You’re safe now. We’ve got you.”

“Damian…” I whispered, my throat dry and scratchy. “I was… someone was chasing me. I didn’t see who… but they were fast, and… I don’t remember much after that.”

“Shh, it’s okay,” Damian soothed, brushing a strand of hair away from my face. “You don’t have to talk about it now. Just rest. You’re safe.”

But I couldn’t rest, not yet. “There was a voice… in my head. It wasn’t mine, Damian. It was telling me to run.”

Damian’s eyes darkened, his jaw clenching. “We’ll figure it out, Mia. I promise.”

Exhaustion was pulling me back into the darkness, but before I succumbed, I gripped Damian’s hand weakly. “Don’t let them take me,” I whispered.

“Never,” Damian vowed, his voice fierce. “I’ll never let anyone hurt you again.”

I let those words wrap around me like a shield, and I allowed myself to drift off, trusting that Damian would keep his promise.

**Damian’s POV**

Seeing Mia awake, even for those brief moments, filled me with a mixture of relief and renewed determination. She was safe, but whoever had done this was still out there, and they weren’t going to stop.

I left the medical room reluctantly, trusting Clara to take care of Mia while I focused on the other pressing matter—the rogues who had dared to attack her. Mike’s report was weighing heavily on my mind. If they were in such a hurry, they must have been after something—or someone—specific.

And Mia… she mentioned a voice in her head. It wasn’t the first time she’d hinted at something strange happening to her, and it was starting to worry me more than I wanted to admit. I needed to find out what was going on, not just for her safety, but for the safety of everyone in the pack.

I found Austin waiting for me just outside the room, his expression mirroring my own. “We need to talk to Mike,” I said. “He found some clues, and I want to know what he’s discovered.”

Austin nodded. “Let’s go.”

We made our way to the border, where Mike was still investigating. He looked up as we approached, a grim look on his face. “I’ve followed the trail as far as I could,” he reported. “But it ends abruptly, like they knew how to cover their tracks.”

“Any idea who it could be?” I asked, though I already had a sinking feeling that this wasn’t just a random attack.

Mike hesitated. “No definite IDs yet, but there was something off about the whole scene. They were definitely after Mia, and they knew what they were doing.”

I clenched my fists, trying to keep my anger in check. “We need to increase security around the pack, especially around Mia. Whoever did this is still out there, and they’re not going to stop.”

Austin nodded in agreement. “I’ll double the patrols and set up more guards around the house. We’ll make sure Mia is protected at all times.”

“Good,” I said, my voice low and determined. “And keep an eye out for anything unusual. We can’t afford any more surprises.”

As we walked back, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something bigger was at play here—something that involved more than just rogue wolves. The mention of the six hybrids, the voice in Mia’s head… it was all connected somehow, and I was going to find out how.

And when I did, whoever was responsible would pay dearly.

**Unknown POV**

The room was dimly lit, the flickering flames of the torches casting ominous shadows on the stone walls. The air was thick with tension, the kind that made it hard to breathe. Every breath felt like inhaling smoke, suffocating and bitter. In the center of the room stood the Alpha, a towering figure shrouded in darkness, his eyes glowing with an unnatural intensity. He paced back and forth, each step echoing ominously in the silence.

“Report,” his voice was low, a dangerous calm lacing every word, though the fury behind it was palpable.

A subordinate, trembling and trying to mask his fear, stepped forward, his head bowed low. “Alpha… the mission… it failed.”

The Alpha’s steps halted abruptly. The room seemed to grow colder, the shadows deeper. He turned slowly to face the messenger, his eyes narrowing with a dangerous gleam. “What do you mean, failed?” The words were enunciated with a chilling precision, each one dripping with barely contained rage.

The subordinate swallowed hard, his heart pounding in his chest. “He hasn’t returned, Alpha. It’s been a month, and there’s been no word. It’s as if he’s vanished.”

Silence fell over the room, so thick it felt as though the walls themselves were holding their breath. The Alpha’s expression darkened, his face a mask of cold, calculating malice. “One month,” he repeated, his voice now a dangerous whisper. “An entire month, and you bring me nothing but excuses.”

The messenger flinched, knowing full well the consequences of delivering bad news to their leader. The Alpha was not known for his patience or his mercy.

“Alpha, please,” the subordinate stammered, desperate to appease the looming threat. “We can send more. We can—”

“Silence,” the Alpha hissed, cutting him off. The word was a knife in the air, sharp and unforgiving. The subordinate fell silent immediately, fear evident in his every trembling movement.

The Alpha turned away, his mind already working through the possibilities. His lips curled into a sinister smirk, though there was no warmth in it—only the promise of something far more terrifying. “Send two more,” he commanded, his voice steady, but laced with an undercurrent of malevolence. “Have them spy on every move she makes. Every breath she takes. I want to know everything. And when they fail, as they most certainly will, I will know exactly who to blame.”

The subordinate nodded hastily, backing away with a low bow. “Yes, Alpha. It will be done.”

As the messenger scurried out of the room, the Alpha’s eyes glowed even brighter in the dim light, a cruel grin spreading across his face. He could feel the power thrumming through his veins, the anticipation of the hunt, the thrill of the chase. But this was no ordinary prey. No, she was something much more… precious.

“Mia…” he whispered her name, savoring the sound of it as if it were the sweetest of poisons. “You will be mine. Mine alone. Not Damian’s, not anyone’s. Just mine.”

The shadows seemed to grow darker, almost as if they were alive, responding to the twisted emotions coursing through him. He reveled in the thought of it—Mia, broken and bound, her spirit crushed until there was nothing left but submission. He imagined her kneeling before him, her eyes filled with fear and despair, and the thought sent a shiver of pleasure down his spine.

“They think they can protect you,” he continued, his voice soft, almost gentle, as if he were speaking to her directly. “They think they can keep you from me. But they are wrong, my dear. So very wrong. You see, there is no escape. No sanctuary. No hope.”

His laughter echoed through the chamber, cold and hollow, sending chills down the spine of anyone unfortunate enough to hear it. “I will tear apart everything they hold dear. I will strip away every defense, break every bond, until there is nothing left but you and me.”

He clenched his fists, the thought of her slipping through his fingers igniting a rage so fierce it nearly consumed him. But he would not lose control. Not yet. There was still time. Time to plan, to manipulate, to strike when they least expected it.

“One day,” he vowed, his voice a dark promise. “One day soon, you will be mine, Mia. And when that day comes, there will be no mercy, no reprieve. You will belong to me, body and soul, forever.”

The room fell silent once more, the shadows retreating slightly as the Alpha’s laughter died away. But the darkness in his heart remained, festering like an open wound, feeding on his obsession, his desire. And as he stood there, plotting his next move, one thing was certain:

The hunt had only just begun.
