Chapter 10: The Waiting Game

Five months had passed since Mia had slipped into the coma, and still, she had not woken. Damian stood by the window in his office, staring out at the pack’s training grounds. Warriors moved in precise, coordinated drills, their focus intense as they prepared for an enemy that remained hidden. But despite their efforts, the tension in the pack only grew with each passing day.

"It's been five months, Sybil, and she's still not awake," Damian growled, his voice laced with frustration and anger as he paced the room. His emotions, normally kept under tight control, were now spilling over. “When will she wake up? We still don't know who the traitor is, and they need to be caught now!”

“Everything happens in its own time, Damian,” Sybil replied, her tone calm but firm. She had grown used to Damian’s outbursts over the past few months, understanding the immense pressure he was under. “She will wake up soon, and perhaps then we will be able to catch the traitor. But until that time, we need to have patience.”

Damian stopped pacing; his fists clenched at his sides. “Patience,” he repeated, his voice bitter. “We don’t have time for patience, Sybil. The pack is on edge, and I don’t know how much longer we can keep this up.”

“Just keep watching and training everybody,” Sybil advised, her eyes steady as she met his gaze. “Time will pass quickly, and when she wakes, we will be ready.”

**Meanwhile, in Mia’s Dream**

“Hello! Can anybody hear me?” Mia’s voice echoed through the darkness, her frustration growing. She had been drifting for what felt like an eternity, and the isolation was beginning to wear on her.

Suddenly, a soft voice broke through the silence. “Come here, sweetie; I have someone for you to meet, and we have to talk.”

“What… What happened? Why the heck am I here?” Mia asked, her voice trembling with fear as she tried to make sense of the situation.

“I called you here, dear,” the voice replied gently. “There is someone I would like you to meet.”

Mia felt a presence beside her and turned to see a white wolf, its fur shimmering like snow under moonlight. The wolf’s eyes were kind, yet held a fierce determination that immediately comforted Mia.

“Hi,” greeted the wolf, its voice soft yet powerful. “I’m Snowy, your wolf.”

“Hi,” Mia whispered, her fear slowly ebbing away as she took in the wolf’s serene presence. “Nice to meet you.”

“I called you here because it is the safest place for me to talk to you,” Snowy explained, her voice calm and soothing. “Your life is in danger, Mia. When you wake up, you need to start training immediately. You just fought your first battle, and it forced your body to make some changes, so don’t be scared when you wake up.”

Mia nodded slowly, absorbing Snowy’s words. “Changes? What kind of changes?”

“From now on, I will be in your head,” Snowy continued, her tone gentle but firm. “And if I have to, I will force myself out. We will be one from today until the end of the world, and we will forever be together.”

As Snowy spoke, Mia felt a deep connection forming between them, a bond that felt unbreakable. It was as if a missing piece of her soul had finally been found and placed where it belonged.

**In the Real World**

Mia’s body remained still, but the subtle signs of change were becoming apparent. Her skin began to take on a faint glow, her once delicate features now sharpened with a quiet strength that had not been there before. The pack noticed the change, a mix of hope and fear in their hearts as they wondered what this transformation might mean.

Mia, drifting in the dark void of her mind, heard the familiar voices of her packmates calling out to her, urging her to wake up. The voices were distant, like echoes from a faraway place, but they gave her strength.

“W-w-water,” she whispered, her voice weak but determined.

Antonella, ever vigilant, was by her side in an instant, holding a glass of water to Mia’s lips. Mia drank greedily, her body craving the cool liquid.

“It's not like I changed… right?” Mia’s voice was small, filled with uncertainty as she looked around the room.

Nella exchanged a glance with Sybil, who nodded slightly. “Mia,” Sybil began gently, “you have changed, but it is not something to fear. You are evolving, becoming who you were always meant to be.”

“What happened to me?” Mia asked, her voice trembling as she reached for the mirror Antonella handed her. The moment her reflection stared back at her; Mia’s breath caught in her throat. Her once soft features were now sharp and fierce, her eyes glowing with an otherworldly light.

“You’re changing,” Sybil answered, her voice calm but filled with an underlying intensity. “You will continue to change until you reach your true form.”

“True form?” Mia echoed, her mind racing. “What does that mean? Snowy, are you here? What does Mom mean by ‘true form’?”

Snowy’s voice was a soothing balm in her mind, cutting through the panic that threatened to overwhelm her. “It means you are becoming more powerful, Mia. Trust the process. I am here with you, and together we will face whatever comes.”

As the reality of her situation began to sink in, Mia felt a mix of fear and excitement. She was changing, evolving into something more, and with that change came a new sense of purpose. The words Selena had spoken echoed in her mind: “Remember, get the hybrids together before the next blood moon, and when the snow sticks to the ground, that's when the war will come.”

Mia took a deep breath, steeling herself for what lay ahead. She knew that whatever happened, she wouldn’t face it alone. Snowy was with her, and so was her pack. And when the time came, she would be ready.

**Back in the waking world**

The pack continued to train, their resolve hardening with each passing day. They could sense the shift in the air, a subtle but undeniable change that signaled something was coming. And though the future was uncertain, one thing was clear: Mia was their hope, their leader, and when she woke, the world would change forever.

Author notes:

It's been almost 2 years since I have written anything. In those 2 years I have been in and out of the hospital and doctor's appointment. with everything that was going on I have lost motivation to write and the inspiration. Before everything I had written 3 chapters. I will be publishing those 3 chapters for now. I will continue writing when I find the inspirational and motivation. For now, I'm going to continue focusing on my health, studies and other project that I have mind. As soon as I'm back with writing I will let everyone know.

Thank you for reading my book and sporting me through my writing journey.
