Chapter Thirteen

Mira’s POV

This morning, it’s a day after I meet with dad at the restaurant. I thought he wouldn’t call me after that incident, but I just got off the call with him once again and the man was very persistent.

I sigh, and of course, the topic is the same thing. He wants me to go on a blind date with the only son of Gevi groups Henry Pence. One who’s his legacy precedes him. The man is a well-known womanizer, but of course, as long as my marriage to him will lead to the conglomerate funding dad’s political campaign, he will happily have me married.

As a child, I thought I would never live the life my mum lived. I hated her for giving dad too much power over her. And now, dad holds power over me because of my trust fund. My business is not going on well. My bridal shop has fewer customers than I wanted and my trust fund, it seems, is still within dad’s grasp. He added a clause to it.

I can only access it when I get married
