“Where have you been?” RuIng asked, rolling his only visible eye all over the place. “I thought something happened to you.”
Sevir did not respond. RuIng’s eye came to rest, the look in it sobering up. “It has been a long time since you looked like that and even longer since you looked like that at me.”
“How much have you been hiding from me, RuIng? How many times have you promised that it would be the last time?”
RuIng leaned away, eyes wide, double chinned, almost looking funny. If Sevir was in a good mood, he would have indulged it.
Ruing said indignantly, “You have already learned about the beast and the healing. Not much apart from that.”
Sevir picked up two journals he had retrieved that morning. He put the top one aside and opened the second one.
“I recovered two journals that were in King Kai’s possession. What is written in this, I can hardly believe you didn’t know. And if you don’t, then it raises some serious questions about Headmaster Wama.”
