Two Masters

Bailong, who often smiled softly to put up an amicable persona, looked at Master Xaun coldly.

“Your purpose is fulfilled..” Bailong shifted his hand over his waist and under his cloak, as if retrieving something. Master Xaun’s eyes followed his hand. The man’s knees crashed into the floor with a hollow thud, “please. Please. I… I am still of use. I know Kaizen better than Zihao. Every nook and cranny. Lady..…”

Bailong’s hand paused, a moment of hesitation, giving Master Xaun an opening. Master Xaun shifted so quickly that even his new keen eyes couldn’t catch where the man had shrunk into his fallen clothes. Bailong said, “one last chance.”

Then he stomped on the fallen clothes with his heel where there could be hiding a small beast. Something shot out of the clothes and flew straight up- an insect, a bug. He turned and began walking outwards, following his sense of direction towards Kamiko.
