Pressure Training

“The training will resume now.”

Headmaster Wama’s crisp instructions were for anyone left in the room, uninjured. They had already sent the injured to healers in the next building over. Less than half the people in the room remained.

The room trembled slightly as he heard the metal cogs under his feet move. People sprang into their beast, shifting all over the room, looking at the walls, alert, ready. Sevir looked over at Headmaster Wama, who looked around. No one explained what had happened before or what went wrong. A small opening in the middle of the room gave way to a rising metal column, over which sat an orangish liquid, swishing slightly as the column rose much over their heads. Many people shifted back, a swarm of naked bodied flashed before the cloaks were hung on their shoulders again. Sevir did not know where to look. The people who recognised it changed back, and those who didn’t remain alert. Whispers about the enhancers started again.
