Flashback 18

“Show me, mom.” Sevir sent fire to the crystal. The surface flickered before he saw his mother from multiple angles, as through lying before a broken mirror. The place was dark, her eyes were closed and a small ray of light was cutting by her face at an angle.

The image flickered and went away. Sevir whole hand engulfed in fire as he raised the crystal, wanting to see it again, “mom?”

Nothing.

The crystal ate up the fire as the darkness came into view again. In it a stone slab, a typical cave like structure with little lighting but no sleeping woman. Nothing.

“RuIng?” he called. The image immediately shifted to RuIng sitting between many layer of books and scrolls, a lamp lit on the side, waving his hand from side to side, the fire from the lamp was pulled to RuIng’s hand and back.

“What are you doing?” he asked. RuIng paused and looked over.

“Experimenting.”

Sevir’s brows pulled together, but he didn’t pursue the topic further.
