I watched Meiying with a smile as she held the necklace tightly, examining it with the kind of awe that only someone who truly appreciated its worth could. "Take as much time as you need," I said, my hand resting on hers. "I'm sure my mother's necklace is in good hands with you."

Meiying nodded eagerly, her eyes never leaving the necklace. I yawned, faking the weight of exhaustion upon me. "Well, thank you for the drink, but I must go back to sleep," I said, my words falling on deaf ears as Meiying continued to marvel at the necklace.
