Matter ingestion and other innate abilities may be nerfed in their lower levels but should grow more powerful as their power grows.

An Apha/variant/leader type would have improved base abilities which would be improved upon once they gain more power. E.g. eating harmful, high energy tonics and poisonous things would be limited to their current realm.
