Day Twelve #4

After watching over the sparring and trying to establish some kind of temporary ranking system within the group, Inis had turned her attention to the ground below.

Xeni had stood by her side and looked a little tired and sore from being put through many sparring sessions. "Um.. Inis, like I had said before.. there is something going on in the surroundings that has caught my attention."

Inis nodded in response and asked. "What is it exactly?"

Xeni went on to explain. "I believe that the territories that have lost their strongest group or territory boss so others have been moving into their territory to make them their own.

The problem is that it is not just one or two individuals or groups that have had the same plan so they have been fighting between themselves."

The territory was a place where either of the species or creatures that existed would make their homes and would live off.

Sometimes there were natural resources that they lived off or they had free reign of the others that lived there so they could remain at the top of the food chain.

When a strong group or individual that had been occupying the territory had disappeared, there were those living inside the territory that would try to rise up to be at the top or others would come in from another territory where they may not have been the very top influence.

Those at the top could keep those close to them safe and provide a better environment for them while providing a safer place to hunt those beneath them and taking their pick of the natural resources.

If they could not put up with living under another powerful creature then they would find somewhere that they could be able to live better lives alone or with those that were in their pack.

Since there had been many deaths since Inis had entered the world and several groups or stronger individuals had been killed by Inis or died during a larger skirmish, the territories were left behind without a strong predator to rule over them.

It had taken a little time for others to venture out off their territory to search for food or to explore but there were those that had come across less resistance to them entering a territory that was usually more guarded.

Since they had not been chased off by stronger foes like usual, they became a little more courageous and checked further to find out that there were some areas that were open for them to take over.

It was not just one individual or group that had come across each of them so it was inevitable for a fight to break out in order to establish a new territory boss.

Each of the bosses or bigger packs that ruled over the territories had various perks but it was not like they suddenly became stronger just by having the position as a territory boss and they had many difficulties that they had to deal with.

Challenges from others and keeping others from entering their territory was just their basic everyday task if they wished to keep what they had taken over.

How they ruled their territory was up to them but depending on how they ruled over it, the whole ecosystem and resources that existed there could be maintained or destroyed.

There was a time back in the Dungeon Era that such tasks were the basics that most creatures followed in the dungeons as they protected their territory and their boss.

The boss was either a mutant of the species, an evolved version of the species or they had some kind of boss status that was granted by the system or the dungeon that made them be fit for the role of a boss but in the Aether Era, those kinds of creatures were quite rare.

There were some that had mutated or evolved on their own without the aid of the system or the dungeons but the causes for such a thing happening was unknown.

Perhaps it was just that a lot of lower species creatures simply could not stand up to those far above them so they had to adapt which created such a result.

If there was one such example then it would be Inis and the Gremlins that had been produced by her as a result of her natural ability that had been granted.

Inis did not seem too displeased that there were new creatures moving in around her own territory but she knew that things could get a little tricky once those in the surroundings would start to notice her presence along with the others with her.

She knew that she was not fully using her talents to their best capabilities and had not yet tested if it was possible to rule over others besides those of her own kind.

If others were going to live around her territory then they quickly needed to learn that there was someone occupying the tree that she and others were remaining in and it would not be given up so easily at least for the time being.

Inis climbed down and went to quietly scout the area to get a better understanding of what was happening around her so that she had enough information to work from.

The more information that she had, the better it would be for her to be able to prepare for any future threats or to make plans of her own against those forces.

Inis had come across a large sized bear that was fighting a hard fought battle followed by some Kobolds that were fighting against Gnolls.

Some other fights over the nearby territories were not so straightforward and there were those that had come in much larger numbers and had attacked as a pack against a strong individual who was putting up a desperate fight against them all.
