A new day would bring about new events and challenges as humans and the many races and creatures lived among themselves on the same planet.
The planet alone was their home which they shared and what others from outside the planet coveted.
It was a much safer haven than any other existing planet that had been overrun by the dungeons that still existed there.
Some efforts had been spared to offer aid to clear those dungeons but there had no longer been any major rewards given with the lack of the system.
It was not a complete loss since those dungeons housed many kinds of different resources that could be harvested and put to use.
If the resources on earth started to deplete then there was always the option to look to the stars for another solution and the same could be true for much rarer resources.
Non hostile aliens were welcomed if they shared some resources or information while others formed mutually beneficial alliances based on their power and influence.
There did exist other forces that wanted to seize the earth for themselves and rid it of the many races living on it but they were met with heavy resistance from the earthlings that had a long period of protection around their planet and were able to slowly gather their power back.
The small space that Inis was in had been a location that was further away from any of the bigger settlements of any of the original earthlings, races that came from the dungeons or the races that came from space.
It was far less developed, the people living there were much weaker and they lived their lives surrounded by the many threats lingering outside.
Their walls stood tall to protect those inside but there could always come a day when a large flying creature could fly over them and cause a lot of destruction.
There was always a threat of something burrowing underneath the ground and doing the same.
There was always the threat of their walls being breached or them dying while outside the walls when they had to go outside eventually for various reasons.
Communication and relations between the settlements needed to be maintained while there were always problems going on inside the settlements that could not be solved without having to reach out to others for aid or to find something that could solve the problem in the dangerous habitats of the various creatures.
Their support was limited from the bigger settlements so what they could do was limited.
They could either sit inside their walls and try to do everything they could to build a sustainable community and environment or they would have to form relationships with those that could do things they could not or those that could provide what they did not have.
If they did not do so they it was likely that they would lock themselves inside of their settlement as it would begin to collapse in on itself as resources and manpower would deplete along with a long list of problems that would appear at every turn.
There was always a way to survive if everyone learned how to adapt to their environment and how to make full use of what they had.
An alliance was struck between two small settlements through marriage which had caused one village to gain lost resources that Inis had stolen or destroyed.
Another village gained an alliance and a political hostage to make sure their alliance would not be so easily broken.
Other allied, opposing or neutral villages took notice of the sudden change and that caused a sudden shift in power dynamics among them all.
Not everyone was so willing to work together for the sake of the sake goal especially when they dreamed of bigger things and claiming more power for themselves.
Even in a small location where there existed several small villages that were under constant threat with very little resources of their own, there existed those that coveted more at the expense of others.
When the other intelligent races and wild creatures were thrown into that chaotic environment that was the place Inis was living in, just about anything could happen next so it was much safer to remain vigilant.
The intelligent races moved on emotions, desires, logic and needs while others solely followed their basic primitive natures and instincts resulting in a chaotic world where anyone could come across their next threat or opportunity.
Flames rose along with black smoke as the signal for war and bloodshed had arrived early in the morning causing Inis to stare at it from far away from up in tree. "Hmm.. so there must be another settlement in that direction but it is under attack right now.
Should I go check it out or should I just ignore it?"
Inis was very curious about how many different races and intelligent life forms existed in her surroundings but had come across very few of them.
The women of the goblin cave were the very first among them but only Xeni was the one that remained by her side.
She caught sight of some when she infiltrated the village settlement but her task then was to remain hidden and to take what she needed.
A small amount of hope was in her heart that she could not completely abandon the human side of herself.
Xeni made for some good company and kept her spirits up at times but that did not stop her from being curious about the those of her previous race and how they had turned out.
Not every one of humans had betrayed her so the grudge in her heart was not aimed towards them but was aimed towards those who actually took part in it.
Xeni was an intelligent humanoid race so Inis was able to get to enjoy her company more but there was a need to learn more about her former race and to find out if she could still form a connection one day with them in her current state.
She may have been a monster but her soul was still that of a human so there was still a part of herself that held onto such thoughts.
Curiosity and yearning for those things got the best of Inis as she watched the black smoke rise into the sky signalling some form of human presence and activity.
Leaving behind a short farewell to Xeni and the Gremlins that would slow her down and draw more attention to herself, she climbed down the tree and moved towards the direction the smoke came from.
