Night Thirteen #4

Despite feeling weak and helpless towards the current situation, Inis did not let it discourage her too much.

After some time pondering over her decision, she had decided that she could still do the bare minimum so long as she was careful.

She kept her body low and hidden away watching the patrols and listening to the people walking by until she had heard a small group of people talking about reporting to the boss.

Her interest was gained from heading such news and she started to carefully track their movements until they arrived at a building that was closer to the entrance of the mining site.

A smile formed on her face as she watched from the shadows as the patrolling people had entered to give their reports and receive new orders.

Inis carefully looked around once they had entered and started to move silently keeping herself low.

She used several positions that she could hide her body under or behind until she had arrived near the building.

Inis climbed under a pile of tools and other stacked up objects at the back of the building trying not to create any noise to be found.

Her big green pointy ears were pressed against the wall as she tried to listen to the noises coming from inside.

It was not perfect but she could faintly hear voices from three people at most coming from inside.

In order to not jump to any conclusions so soon, Inis remained in place even as she heard the sounds of the two people leaving.

One remained inside who had only made some noises when they were moving around and talking to themselves.

Inis spent some time waiting and listening patiently while doing her best to keep hidden from anyone patrolling then louder noises from within could be heard.

Heavy footsteps could be heard from within which gradually became slightly quieter as they got a little further away.

The sound of the door unlocking and opening followed and a large man who had a very rounded body stepped outside holding the belt on his pants as he was rushing towards another location.

Upon heading him leave and catching a slight glimpse upon his departing figure, Inis took a moment to survey her surroundings before stepping out.

She circled around the building reaching the door which had been left a little open due to the previous person leaving being in a hurry.

Inis slowly pushed the door opened and kept her eyes focussed on looking towards the insides before finally pushing the door further open and entering.

Nobody was inside and there were several documents laid out on the table which looked like some maps, lists and plans which were being worked on by the person who had left.

Inis started to look on the main desk first overlooking them but found nothing of interest.

Her attention went towards several tubes that would usually be used to keep documents inside to prevent them from taking on damaged or wet.

Upon inspecting them, Inis quickly found that there were labels stuck on the lid to better help identify the type of document it was that was sealed inside.

She knew that she could not stay there long so she speeded up her search trying to carefully preplan for any possible dangers. 'Not this.. not here. No.. not this either.'

In order to avoid being caught iff guard, she kept looking for possible hiding places or signs of movement nearby outside of the window while she kept listening intently for any signs of others approaching.

After spending as much time and attention on searching through the sealed documents to find one she was more interested in, Inis started to hear sounds nearby. 'Damn..'

Upon sensing that there was some movement and not enough time to safely grab something, Inis dropped her previous plan and quickly moved herself towards a smaller part of the room.

A small storage area was pulled open which she was able to step inside of and pull closed just after she had pulled out one of her curved blades up readily.

Her body and weapon was ready for combat the moment that she was discovered so that she could quickly and silently kill anyone that found her in her current position.
