Night Thirteen #6

More noises came from outside as the woman was dragged away being taken back to where she was being held along with the others.

The man came back inside shortly after as he spent some of his remaining time inside before leaving once again.

Inis who had been left alone finally let out a faint sigh of relief as she pushed her way out of her hiding place carefully looking around before stepping out.

She checked near the door and surroundings before walking over towards the tubes once again to check over the ones she had not checked yet.

Inis just felt relieved that it was all over since there was a very big part of her that just wanted to take action and do as she wanted regardless of the possible consequences.

Her gaze went back towards the tubes she had not yet looked at then started to quickly read the labels on them.

She finally found some that she could make use of and pulled them out before tying them together so they were easier to carry.

It had been about an hour since she had entered the room so she was even more eager to leave so she carefully stepped towards the door checking the surroundings carrying the tubes.

Once she saw that there was nobody around after one of the patrols passed through, she emerged from within and disappeared back into the shadows of the settlement navigating through the places she had journeyed through before.

Upon reaching the wall once again, Inis made sure to secure the tubes to her body to prevent them from coming loose or falling before she began her climb back up from the way she came in.

Each small movement was done with even more caution as she kept watch over the people patrolling below just in case someone happened to spot her who was climbing higher above them.

Eventually she reached near the top of the wall and remained under the main walkway on the wall that was being used to oversee the outside.

Footsteps and voices could be heard nearby so she remained in place just so that she could remain unnoticed during the whole encounter.

The only clues of her presence being within the settlement was that the documents were taken by her but it was very likely that there would be copies and other versions while it was also likely that the documents she took may not go noticed to be missing until a later date.

It was equally important not to tip anyone off that an intruder had slipped into their settlement if she planned on ever coming back one day.

The footsteps started to trail off further away and then Inis took the opportunity to climb up the side of the wall before making her way towards the other side to prepare climbing down.

She grabbed onto the edge and then slowly lowered her body down until she was almost hanging there.

Her body slowly started to make its way down in the same way she climbed up until she reached the ground some time later.

Her body stuck close to the walls as she watched out for any signs of movement that were shown above on the walls before heading towards the cover of the forest once again.

Once she felt that she had successfully infiltrated the settlement and had gotten away without being detected, Inis followed the direction that she came from in order to navigate through the dark forest slowly evading the dangers roaming around at night.

Fatigue and tiredness started to set in as she got closer to the location she considered as her new home.

Upon arriving safely back at the tree and climbing up, Inis was greeted with many Gremlins that were full of energy.

Some had small collections of things they had pulled up into the tree after having enough courage to hunt while she was not there to guide or watch over them.

It became clear to Inis that when she was away, it was very difficult to keep them under control.

On one hand, they were her main source of strength since greater numbers meant a greater chance of survival.

On the other hand, they were still Gremlins and it was within their nature to be chaotic so trying to establish any kind of order over them only worked when she was there to establish her presence as the Gremlin ruler.

No matter how they had acted while she was away or how they could not sit still even as they approached her excitedly, Inis could only accept that they were a part of her own growing power and had been born from her own ability.

She was much too mentally and physically tired to be bothered by their antics so she pushed past them heading towards the place she considered as her place to sleep.
