God the look on his face had to have been priceless. However, I wouldn’t get a chance to know, as Gravestone quickly laid into the king with a swift punch to the face. All around me, guards revealed themselves as shifters in disguise and began fighting with whoever wasn’t with the program. Past the din of the throne room descending into chaos, I could hear fighting outside. The entire castle was likely consumed in battle by now.

That just left me, who was still bound up in chains. Sadly we couldn’t replace the gate guards, so they swiftly abandoned me to avoid being mauled to death by giant wolves. Which means I was currently flat on my face, wiggling around in my bound state. Then I heard a chuckle from the last person I wanted to deal with at the moment. “Not as ostentatious as the boss wanted your death to be,” said McAllister, who loomed above me, sword drawn. “But it’ll have to do!”
