Vampire Amnesia

Chapter 12

Felix looked at the brown Wrangler that was carrying Axell and Bilbina away. For a moment he could only stare. Felix stood straight like a pillar in the middle of a field. He was completely fixated on. The fog that slowly descended covered the courtyard of Stanley College, unable to disturb of Felix'mind who was wandering in the slightest.

Flashes of the past seem to roll over Felix's memory along with the darkness that begins to fall in place of the twilight. Amidst the thick fog that obliterated the existence of the surrounding buildings, he felt himself being dragged back to the painful memories that had haunted him for two hundred years.

In the past, Felix was helped by a human girl. At that time, he was seriously injured which was extremely chase performed by the Kingdom of Hungary against Felix Castle, his castle located in the area of Brand, Transylvania, was badly broken.

Felix Castle was one of the loyal supporters of the Hungarian kingdom. Felix as the ruler of the castle also lives in harmony with the surrounding residents. He ate only by hunting animals from the dense forest across from Felix Castle.

Unexpectedly, one of the royal advisers felt excluded by the King of Hungary's trust in Felix. Rumors and slander that Felix misused the royal trust to hunt down the people for own is on attention. The consultant blew out slander accompanied by evidence that cornered Felix.

Suddenly, many youths and children were found dead around Felix Castle. Their corpses were in a pathetic state and drained of blood. Not only that, even pets are not free from being victims. Fear started to spread among the residents of Brand's territory and its surroundings.

Suspicions of the inhabitants of Felix Castle are growing. The climax was the attack and demolishment of Felix Castle and all its inhabitants which were carried out by the kingdom with their full power.

Beth, who is one of the daughters of the ruler Brand, finds Felix dying, burning, and starving, not far from the ruins of Felix Castle which was burned by Hungarian combatants. Beth took Felix to one of his father's abandoned warehouses.

Painstakingly the girl tended to the wounds on Felix's body. She also brought the blood of the animals she had hunted herself. The burns on Felix's body began to disappear, the young man's strength slowly returned. Even though Felix was angry at the humans who caused the destruction of his castle, Beth's concern and help towards him slightly extinguished the fire of anger in his heart.

Sometimes, Beth and Felix would spend the evening surreptitiously on the edge of the forest. They tied colorful cloths on the hawthorn trees as a plea for wishing of protection and peace.

Without them knowing it, feelings of love began to blossom between the two of them. However, a hidden danger lurks, apparently someone saw their togetherness and recognized Felix's extension.

Until one day Beth didn't come to meet Felix as usual. Anxiety made Felix, who had not fully recovered, that night to look for Beth's whereabouts.

At the edge of the woods near Felix Castle, where Beth had found him, Felix saw the girl. Under the moonlight, the girl's body was crucified amidst a ring of blazing fire.

The shadow of the flames licking the darkness of the night fell along with the beam of moonlight on Beth's body which was full of wounds. The girl's eyes were closed and swollen. The girl's red hair was loose and partly clumped together with dried blood, fluttering like vines in a storm. The stripes from the whip tore Beth's clothes and her white skin, creating a horrific sight for anyone who saw it, even for Felix, who incidentally isn't human.

In an instant Felix's world shattered. His soul was torn apart as if forced to feel death again. He had failed to protect the only person who made him want to live the life he had and to forgive the betrayal perpetrated by humans against him.

In fact, from that distance Felix could smell Beth's blood which was partially drying up. With a desperate roar that tore through the pitch black night, Felix charged into the center of the circle. He ignored the throwing spears and arrows of the guards who were waiting for him.

Hearing Felix's roar, Beth opened her eyes with difficulty.

"Noooo! Noooo! Do not come here! It's a trap!" Beth's voice, which was only a whisper, was broken trying to get Felix to leave and run away.

Without minding the fire and arrows that rained down on him, Felix released the bonds that bound Beth's body. It was right at that moment that a spear hit his back.

With overflowing anger Felix pulled out the spear. Carefully, he laid Beth on the edge of the clearing. With a quick movement, Felix turned around and kicked the bonfire so that the burning embers scattered about his attackers. The anger that burned Felix's soul, gave him extraordinary strength.

Instantly darkness and chaos enveloped the place. A moment later, only screams were heard and the rancid smell of blood filled the small square with true horror and terror.

Torn corpses scattered afterward. Not a single person was left. Felix stood with his legs spread apart, looking up at the pale moon above him. There was a satisfaction he had never felt before. His eyes were as red as blood that covered his entire body.

"Felix..."

Beth's voice carried by the wind touched Felix's ears who were still drowning in anger. Slowly the red mist seemed to part from before Felix. With one jump he was at Beth's side.

"Beth, honey! Hang on!"

Felix put Beth's body in his lap. Desperately he could only watch the girl struggling trying to speak between her short breaths.

"Don't talk yet. Let's get out of here, I'll tend to your injuries."

"No, I'm not strong anymore! Listen to me, get out of here, for my sake!" Beth tried to caress Felix's cheek with what strength she had left. "Make me yours, but let me remain a human."

Beth brushed back her red hair that covered part of her face and chest. She tilted her head in Felix's lap until her neck was exposed under Felix's burning red eyes.

"Noooo!" Felix roared, Beth had indeed said to Felix, if circumstances forced her like now, she wanted Felix to end her life.
