Lander-Team-six eliminated

The chicken without warning, came after Kyle. He narrowly escaped into the vehicle when the side of the chicken's beak slammed into the car. The impact made the vehicle swerve some metres away.

The vehicle's engine was left running when Kyle came down and attacked the chicken. When the vehicle regained balance, Kyle hit the accelerator and sped off. The chicken followed hot after him.

He drove a couple metres when the dashboard alerted him that fuel was completely depleted. The vehicle's dashboard had been warning about the compromise of the fuel chamber's integrity after the vehicle entered the ditch. Then, Kyle didn't see it.

He turned the vehicle in another direction as the vehicle was slowing to stop. Then he dived out of the vehicle and took to his heels. He was still headed towards the mines' area.

The chicken chased Kyle, who ran towards the mine studded area.

With the frequent help from the long range shooters, Kyle still had the chance of seeing through his plan. His speed was not enough to escape the chicken. He called for the other marauder to come and pick him up. Together they would lure the chicken.

The chicken was over Kyle. A bunch of rockets missed hitting the chicken. The chicken's maw was coming down on him. But before it could get him, a van passed by and snatched him away.

"Woo!" Kyle yelled in excitement, uncalled for. "Thanks for coming," he said to his teammates in the vehicle.

The vehicle drove cautiously yet fast. The chicken voraciously chased after it. The long range shooters' accuracy was now abysmal.

Minutes later, the vehicle was close to the mines' area. The vehicle slowed and swerved to the left and the driver quickly returned the heat to the accelerator. The chicken's momentum launched it forward as it tried to change direction with the vehicle. The chicken fell into the trap.

Kyle quickly triggered the mines to detonate with the remote. A deafening bang was heard, followed by a faint high-pitched screech.

Kyle put himself outside the roof to have a good look at the scene behind them. Thick black smoke choked the mines' zone.

Kyle spoke to every teammate through the comm. device, "Everyone keep your arms loaded and be ready for action. Once the smoke clears to the point that we can see our target, we will light it up. Team leader out."

Six teammates and Kyle were on the vehicle. Kyle came down from the vehicle. He was armed with a bazooka, which he aimed at the smoke. Five other teammates stayed on the roof of the vehicle. Each of them had an RPG aimed at the smoke. The driving teammate was still in the driver's seat.

The second group was on the opposite side of the mine to Kyle's group. They too had their arms aimed at the smoke. The long range shooters also their aim at the smoke. The entire team had scopes on their arms, which aided to see far.

It was a matter of patience.

At that moment, it dawned on Kyle that he and his entire team hadn't thought through their equipment choice. If they had infrared goggles, they would use them to see what the chicken was up to inside the smoke.

A strong wind blew and cleared the smoke a bit. It was enough for Lander-Team-Six; they could see the chicken now. The chicken was squatted in a pool of its blood.

The team leader commanded, "Fire!"

The entire Lander Team Six opened fire on the chicken. The chicken wailed haplessly as it was being hit with rockets. The injury it incurred from the mines' explosion had weakened its body integrity. After a few rocket hits, it incurred a wide cut injury on its left wing.

"Do not relent. Keep firing!" Kyle yelled in encouragement.

More rockets hitting the chicken caused more injuries. It made it bleed profusely. A rocket from the long range shooters blew away its left eye and it screeched. Its right eye changed from white to purple. It flapped its wings wide and screeched, a deafening screech that could be heard for 50 km.

The screech messed up the mental coordination of the entire Lander Team six.

The chicken flapped its wing and ascended two dozen meters. It flapped aggressively, and hundreds of feathers flew out like rockets from its wings. The feathers were as strong as steel and were about six feet long.

A feather skewered through Kyle's head, and thirty more feathers skewered throughout his entire body. The entire Lander team suffered the same fate. They all looked like brochettes pinned to the ground.

The simulation ended for Kyle's team. They took off their VR headsets, and they discovered that they were in a white room.

"Your performance was shitty," a familiar voice said, which scared some of them.

The familiar voice belonged to Rita.

She continued, "You guys are still in the simulation, for your information."

"This statement goes to everyone except the team leader. You all acted irresponsibly by allowing only the team leader to do the planning of the mission by himself. If this were real life, your deaths would be blamed on you."
