Yuuta stared at the ceiling of his room, drowning in his thought.
Help me. Stop her. Akage mouthed as Miss Ryoko carried her away.
He bit his lip. I was so focused on winning that I couldn’t help my friend and if I did help her, she wouldn’t be in this mess. Yuuta thought.
A knock on his door distracted him; he sat upright.
Yumi entered and her stern face softened at her elder brother’s distraught face. She sighed.
“Oni-chan, your buddy said he’s waiting for you at your play spot.” Yumi informed him.
“Which buddy?”
“Don’t pretend like we don’t know it’s Akage-senpai. He said something about quitting the national if you don’t come.”
Yuuta frowned and fell back on the bed. “I’m not going. Just text him.”
“His phone is off.” Yumi leaned against the door. “Akage-senpai is stubborn and unpredictable. I’m afraid of him but I’m more afraid of you losing yourself without him. The two of you have always been together for as long as I can remember.”
