Chapter six || Katie’s POV

Shutting my locker I notice Brylan standing behind it wriggling her eyebrows. 'Guess who's looking,'

Turning my head around I notice Noah quickly turn his head away as I try to hide my smile. He's talking to Jacob and Thale and I can tell he's not really focused.

'It's your gorgeous boyfriend to be.' She plasters a grin on her face eagerly.

'I don't think he's interested in me anymore,' I turn back to her being honest. 'I've lost track how many calls and messages I've sent him and he hasn't responded.'

'He's ugly anyways,' she trails back revoking what she has previously said making me laugh.

'Who's ugly?' Alex walks up to us taking out his headphones.

'Noah,' Brylan informs him before tucking one of her braids behind her ear.

'Are you guys blind or some shit?' He almost a laughs looking over at him, 'he's gorgeous,'

'He's also ignoring all my texts and calls.' I grip my textbook tighter turning again to look at him. He seems more focused in their conversation, now with another girl in his arms.

'Never mind i actually kinda see the ugly now that you mention it.' Alex responds quickly. 'And he treats girls like actual shit, hot guys piss me off,'

Despite my slight bias towards attractive men, as i see them as untrustworthy, I have to be honest Alex is an exception. Although he doesn't realize it he's actually really attractive and constantly gets approached and has the audacity to not realize it's because he's attractive.

'Alex you are a hot guy.' Brylan almost rolls her eyes, she's always reminding him but he always refuses to see it, 'you're literally tall, smart, funny and you have such a nice face to look at.'

'No,' Alex shakes his head before putting a piece of gum in his mouth. 'Hot guys get whatever girl that they want, I do not have that luxury.'

'Because you never go for anyone you like,' I look up at him, 'I bet you any girl would say yes,'

Looking back at me he stays mute as if he wants to say something but quickly looks at Brylan instead, 'what's first period again?'

'Math shithead...don't tell me you 'forgot' your textbook again,' Brylan turns and begins walking which he follows.

'Wanna guess?' He jokes making her sneer.

Glancing back at my locker I walk the opposite direction. Unluckily I didn't get either of them on my timetable for this year so I've been on my own. But I grew used to it and it didn't bother me anymore, the only frustrating thing is I got Lilah in all my classes.

Walking past where Noah's standing I look straight ahead not glancing over but I feel his eyes on me. Tucking my hair behind my ear I quickly untuck it, I had cut my curtain bangs with Brylan and despite it looking cute it makes my face look awkward when I tuck the sides. Yet I always tuck them regardless since it's a habit.

Stepping down the hallways I take a deep breath as I notice my class down the hall. Fixing the ends of my hair, flicking it over my shoulders evenly I feel a tap on my shoulder.

Turning back I direct to eyes up making eye contact with Noah.

Shit.

Suddenly having nothing to say I try to think of anything to tell him but nothing comes out. Maybe I had out done myself with all the messages and calls which I know he saw.

'Hey,' I fumble out the words.

'I saw your messages.' He answers quickly, yet he still sounds ten times calmer than me.

'And I..urm..saw your little like box- the read receipt on the message...' I hesitate trying to explain it, using my fingers to draw out a box in the sky instantly feeling stupid and dropping my hand.

Usually I don't let guys get to me but Noah confuses me, I can't really read him so he makes me painfully nervous. Which is both embarrassing and unlike me.

I'm timid. Usually I don't speak unless I'm spoken too or unless I feel like I have to. So reacting strangely to a simple sentence isn't what I would say my usual.

'You're very awkward,' he creases his eyebrows as I can sense an unfamiliar disinterest in his voice, 'it doesn't really suit your face.'

'What does that mean?' I ask disoriented, all I wanted was to sit in class early so I can scroll through my phone but now I'm talking to Noah Watcher in the hallways already hearing the rumors that will spread, as people walk past whispering.

'I mean that you look like Lilah,' he rewords as I stand there realizing he's trying to call me pretty indirectly, 'except instead of contour and miniskirts you wear mascara and your brothers hoodies.'

Stunned, unsure if he's insulting me or not I look around as no one I know is here yet since the bell hasn't rang. Other people stand in front of their lockers laughing with their friends whilst I'm standing across someone who's indirectly hurting my feelings whilst he leans against the wall.

Not that anyone can tell or hear us.

Feeling out of place I look at him with a confused expression on my face. 'What are you talking about,'

Finally hearing the ring of the bell I jump slightly startled by the sound given we're standing right near one of the speakers but Noah doesn't even bat an eye.

Reaching into his hooding he takes dark blue metallic object out of his pocket bringing it his lips before breathing it in. Smoke comes out of his mouth breathing it back in though his nose, 'your brother is going out with Jacob tonight and your parents are almost never home. Keep your window open so we can talk things out if that's okay with you.'

Watching him force a smile he turns away walking back down the hall fist bumping Thale before walking down the hall with him.

'Like I'll open my window for you.' I almost laugh to myself trying to keep myself from being upset by the coldness of his tone when he was speaking to me.

'I'll fucking lock that shit,' I think to myself before walking into the class and sitting down.
