CHAPTER 18: THE REAPER

I found myself in a large field beside what I guessed to be the sea. It was a vast, endless shore of cold white sand leading to a massive body of clear, turquoise water. In the distance, I could see large boats, similar to the one my company and I stole to find Karl. Behind me, I saw two grown men and two little boys running towards the water.

The two men looked strikingly similar and strangely familiar. They were both tall and brown-skinned, their eyes bright blue and a bearskin cloak covering each of their bare chests.

Behind them, the two boys looked a lot like their fathers, the boy on the left probably 13 like me, tall like his father, his strides long and quick. The boy on the right was much smaller, only about 5 or 6, his stubby little legs trying desperately to catch up with the long strides of his father, uncle and cousin.

‘Hector, Aaron, Silas and Leo?’ I thought to myself, ‘This must be Raganor’s memory of the day they died…’
