Chapter 2

"!"----

You tried your best to keep calm but Venoms words terrified. Someone -or should you say- not human was in your apartment, staring you down. His gaze alone, without the knowledge of him being nonhuman, made you want to squirm.

You gulped, flashing him a small smile. "I escaped through the back door. It was close to where I hid. I-I saw the chance to live another day so I took it." You lie. You silently prayed to whatever God that was willing to listen, that they would believe you.

"Did you see or hear anything when you left?" Chloe asked, her hands folded in front of you.

"No, once I got outside I ran away from the store."

"You didn't think to call the cops?"

Your hands were shaking ever so slightly, "No, detective. My only thought at the moment was to get away from danger." It was silent for a few moments, Chloe looked like she was thinking things through, while you noticed Lucifer in the corner of your eye looking at the photos you left lying about.

"Thank you for your time, (Y/N). If there is anything else that comes to mind about the situation, anything at all, please give me a call." Detective Decker handed you a small card with her contact information before she walked to your apartment door. She looked towards Lucifer who was still looking through your box of photos.

"" Venom snarled.

"No" You hissed as you glared at the oblivious Lucifer.

"Stop going through their stuff, lets go." Detective Decker called for her partner. You watched hin set down one of the pictures. He spun on his heel to face you, it seemed like his face never dropped that smirk.

"It was lovely to meet you dear." He sauntered over and stuck out his hand. You looked at his eyes, then down at his hand, and then back to his eyes. "No handshake, alright. I just have one thing to ask you. What really happened at that gas station?" You gulped, a strange feeling was forming. Whatever this feeling is, it felt like it was urging you to spill everything. To tell them both you had an alien using you as its host, about how it was you and Venom that killed those men. Thankfully, with Venom yelling in your head, you were able to lose that feeling. You blinked a couple times, you looked into his eyes and didn't feel that past sensation.

"Like I said, I left out through the back door and ran away as fast as I could, Mr. Morningstar."

"O...kay." He looked bewildered, as he slowly back away to your door to join his partner. You approached them, your hand on the door to shut it as soon

"Again, thank you for your time." Chloe smiled. She and Lucifer left, though before you closed the door, you saw Lucifer glance back at you one last time. After making sure the door was locked, you let out a long sigh. You took a moment to collect yourself before walking away from your door.

"What did you mean, Venom?" You asked through gritted teeth. Venom appeared from your back and moved himself in front of you. You stared into his milky white eyes, waiting for an answer. "What did you mean when you said he wasn't human?"

"" Venom replied, his tone wasn't his usual cocky self. ""

"When he stared at us when he asked that question, it felt weird... Didn't it, Venom?"

"." It was radio silent between the two of you now. You were trying to wrap your mind around this 'Lucifer Morningstar'. He seemed human, looked human, and pretty much acted like a human yet... There was something off-putting as well, and Venoms input just added onto the confusion. And now that you think about, the name Lucifer-

"" Venom said, right before your stomach growled, breaking the tracks to your train of thought.

"We are having a bagel then."

""

"You ! We had the police questioning us! We have to lay low!"

""

---

"There was something odd about them, wasn't there?" Lucifer broke the silence in the car as him and Chloe drove back to the station.

"They seemed a bit tense and nervous, but they did just get away from a horrible situation." Chloe answered, giving him a slight glance. "What? Do you not believe them?"

"I don't know yet... Just something seemed different about that human..."

"Anyways-" Chloes phone cut her off. "Hold on." She tapped her Bluetooth piece and began talking to whoever called her, though Lucifer paid no mind. He looked out the window, his eyebrows scrunched.

"Something just didn't seem right..." He murmered. He couldn't place his finger on it. He erased that thought and put his focus on the creature. "Perhaps Amenadiel could help?" He continued his somewhat out loud thinking for a mere few seconds before he heard is partner groan loudly.

"Looks like Dan can't pick up Trixie today. We going to stop by her school to get her." Chloe sighed.

"Can you drop me off at Lux first? I need a word with my brother." He said, sounding distant.

"But Lux is in the other direction, can it wait?"

"It's a bit urgent. He may be able to help with the case." Chloe picked up on his out of character tone of voice.

"Okay, I will get you to Lux ASAP." Lucifer gave his partner a thankful smile before he went on his phone, texting Amendiel to meet him in his home.

-- (2 hours later)--

You groaned and let your head fall on the small coffee table while you let your cellphone drop on the floor. It was the fourth job to turn you down. You felt like crying in frustration, despite it only being five jobs on the list you found in the paper ( that you may or may not have stolen).

"" Venom said in his raspy voice.

"I know, it's just disheartening. I'm decently skilled, and I have decent experience from jobs in San Francisco." You lift your head up and grab your phone, ready to call the next number.

"?"

"I am down to go get a drink, but we are not eating anyone. We need to stay low, remember?"

"."

"You're a pussy." You roll your eyes and you try to block out his yelling. "I am going to look for a place to get a drink, calm down." You google for the closest place to drink, while the symbiote continued his some-what hilarious tantrum. "Sorry Venom." You were trying not to laugh.

"."

"No... Seriously I am." You were sincere, but it was just funny how this alien being was acting like a child.

It was silent between you and Venom, until you heard a meek 'I'm sorry too'.

"So, since we've apologized, how about this club? It's around 10 minutes away walking, and opens in a few minutes... And if something bad happens with a bad guy, we can-"

"" You felt a jolt of excitement rush through you thanks to Venom. You roll your (e/c) eyes and look down at the list of job openings.

"First we get a job. Hopefully."

--

Lucifer downed his seventh drink while waiting for his brother to arrive. He wasn't necessarily stressed or worried, he was just trying to figure out that person he met. Out of all of his fathers creations, he had never met someone that different.

Luci's head perked when the doors of the elevator opened and in walked Amenadiel.

"Ah you are finally here, brother. What took you so long?" Lucifer poured himself another drink, his voice full of his usual sass again.

"Sorry, Linda and I had to talk about something." Amendiel spoke with slight distane tone.

"That takes two hours?" His brother simply looked away, a look of embarrassment flashed on his usually serious face.

"Why do you need to speak with me so urgently?"

"Something quite interesting happened today. Something, I think, involving our dear old dad."

"What are you talking about? Has dad sent me my purpose?"

"Hmmm possibly." Lucifer sipped his alcohol, approaching the dark skinned angel. "I met this person today while with the Detective. They looked human, acted human and sounded like a human, but..."

"But what, Luci?"

"I could tell there was something not human hiding in them. There was something lurking behind their eyes... Something I have never in my eons of life seen before."

"Well Father did make many things outside of us and the humans, it's possible something of his that he may have kept from us got away." Amenadiel thought for a second. "Or this human is special or cursed, like Decker or Cain?"

"Yes that too. Anyways, perhaps you and I can try to see this human or creature is hiding?" Lucifer smirked. "What do you say?"

"This could be the answer for my powers and your wings, let us go."

"Let's be on our merry ways. Cheers." Lucifer raised his glass and gulped his liquor. The two brothers made their way downstairs.

--After you called one more job, with the promise of being called back, you decided you and Venom can enjoy a drink or two. You were waiting in line to enter this club called 'Lux', it was close, pretty affordable despite its fancy look,  and it offered decent beverages.

The line wasn't unbearable, but you knew you weren't getting in quickly. You did not mind the wait though, you weren't really there to party. You wanted to explore the city, find places to get away from the world. Waiting in line for that seemed worth it to you, and Venom saw reason to it as well.

A few people at the front moved into the club, but other than that the line was stagnant and unmoving. You look to your cellphone, scrolling through your preferred social media. Venom laughed in your head when you came across a cat picture.

"Well well, who is this familiar face I see in line?".........
