Chapter 5

"You aren't supposed to be up here, are you?" A voice spoke behind you, a slight hint of sass and aggravation was evident.

"Now, why are you spying on Lucifer?" You figured it was the woman dressed in leather who was in Lucifers penthouse. You heard her unsheath was you could presume to be a blade of some sorts, along with the sound of leather. Yep, it was that woman.

You didn't make a move, nor did you make a peep. The air around you and the woman felt heavy, you both were waiting for the either to make the first move. You gulped, clenching and unclenching your fist as your heart felt like it was going to jump out of your chest.

"." Venom hissed. You rolled your eyes and wrinkled your nose to Venoms comment. She seemed to be close with Lucifer, and most likely it would lead back to you in some way like the convience store.

"Fine if you're not going to talk willingly." You heard the woman take a step but your reflexes, along with Venoms, reacted with lightening speed. You took off running from your position towards the right ledge, and jumped with no hesitation. It felt like slow motion as you went through the air, your limbs flailing as you try to take hold of the ledge. The distance between the two buildings was large, there was no way an average human like yourself would make.

But a Symbiote from another planet can.

Venom didn't take full control. His goopy skin shot out from different areas and clung to the brick wall of the building, pulling your body against the wall and up to the roof. You wanted to turn around and see if the woman was staring in shock, but you knew it was smart to keep running.

"" You noticed your pace began quickening. You looked down to see Venoms legs take form instead of yours. " ." You and Venom kept running and jumping from building to building, not looking back until both were sure she lost track of you. You took brief refuge in an alley, hunched over trying to catch your breath. Your hands were shaking like crazy, and it felt like yoir chest was about burst from your heart.

"What the hell lives here in L.A.?" You placed a hand on your chest, letting out now steady breaths while leaning against the cool brick wall. "I thought the worst was Aliens wanting to kill off humans."

." Venom snickered.

"And more than just parasites too." You shot back, but regretting it as soon as Venom threw yet abother hissy fit.

Mazikeen slammed down her hell-forged dagger into Lucifer's personal bar, causing some splinters to fly in different directions.

"Hey! That is mahogany!" Lucifer exclaimed as he swiped away any splinters that were still on the bar.

"Who ever was watching you on the building got away from me." Maze snarled and removed her dagger from the bar, making Lucifer send her a look at the extra damage she just.caused. "No regular human can get away from me the way this person did."

"Do tell, Maze." Lucifer sipped his expensive whiskey while eyeing his now damaged bar top.

"They leaped across a roof top with a considerable ammount of distance. They weren't even going to make the jump, but their body just slammed into the side of the building and-and got pulled up!" She exhailed, "and then they ran faster than any human I have seen."

"Could it be our monster from the convenience store?"

Mazikeen looked to her left, eyes slightly squinting as she recollected what she witnessed. It was pretty dark on the roof top,and where the gap was between the two. It was too dark and the angle didn't give her enough of a view to see any thing. Although, she did remember seeing something not human when that person was running-

"When they ran... Something formed around their legs." She paused, recollecting rvery detail possible. "I couldn't see what, but I saw move around their legs. Whatever it was, it allowed the human to run faster than any human I have ever seen run."

Lucifer set his drink down, "It does seem like our little creature is still causing some mischief in L.A.. We will have to keep our eyes out in case something else happens in L.A."

He straightened out his suit jsckeye and stood up from the bar, nor forgetting to grab his drink with him. He finished the glass in one gulp and sets it down, looking at Mazikeen with his signature Lucifer Morningstar smirk, "My, my... What else is here in L.A.?"

You enter your apartment and immediately call Eddie for any advice. You were not expecting your stake out to be interrupted by a nonhuman being outside Lucifer and his brother. Was that woman a sister of his? It was an idea that was plausible, since him and his brother, Amenadiel, do not look similar at all.

The phone rang a few times before Eddie picked up. You could hear him yawn on his end, and a bit of lip smacking.

"(Y/N)? It's almost 1am, what's up?" His voice was gravely and slightly slurred from just waking up.

"I.... Fucked up." You weakly chuckle.

"" Venom emerged from your shoulder.

"What did you two do now?" He let out an exasperated sigh.

"I did a stake out on that Lucifer Morningstar, and it didn't go as planned. He has another person in his life who isn't human and it seems it. I don't know her name, but she seems more keen to fight rather than Lucifer and his brother. Did you see anyone on Lucifers background outside of the detective?"

"Let me review what I found so far." You could hear him tapping along on his laptop while you waited anxiously. A goopy tendril appeared from your body and booped your nose. You look at the visible Venom and gave him a playful glare. "You still there, (Y/N)?"

"Yeah, what did you find?"

"There is a name here, Maz- I don't know if I will pronounce it right- Mazikeen Smith. She used to work as a bartender at Lux, Lucifers nightclub, and now a bounty hunter for the LAPD. I have an image of her right here. She wears a lot of leather for a bounty hunter."

"Yep that sounds like her." You decided to scavenge through your cupboard for a snack. There wasn't much but you found one of yours and Venoms favorite snack. You pop the tasty treat in your mouth and gave Venom a bite. "What did you find on her? Same story as Lucifer?"

"Looks like it. Nothing on her before 2011 and like I said, she was a bar tender for Lucifer and recently became a bounty hunter." You processed the information and you were about to speak, but Eddie cut you off. "Maybe... maybe you should make allies with them."

"What?"

"I mean, rather than treating them like an enemy, you should at least be on common ground with them." Eddie yawned. "I have to get bed now, just think it over okay? I don't want you or Venom to get hurt."

"I will Eds, thank you for your help. Tell Anne and the others I said hey okay? Good night."

"Good night, (Y/N) and Venom. And don't get into anymore trouble." With that last note, he hung up. You opened up your Doordash app and ordered some food. You didn't feel tired enough to sleep and you wanted to discuss making allies more with Venom.

"" Venom snickered.

"We are also losers, Venom, let's not associate with Death Glare." You laugh, plopping yourself down on the couch. "What do you think, V? Should we be friendly with Lucifer and his gang of unhuman beings?"

"The only one to really show a threat was Mazikeen Smith, but to be fair we were spying on her and Lucifer."

It was something to consider though. Ever since that incident with the Life Foundation, you've been extremely guarded and cautious. You and Venom almost died thanks to Drake and his Symbiote stabbing you through your upper body, and Venom sacrificing himself. Of course you were going to take precautions when coming across nonhuman beings.

You subconsciously rubbed over the spot where the scar was. There was still an ache to the tender spot, despite Venom healing you up as much as he could.

"We should be careful, but the idea of an allie or two doesn't sound too bad." You glance down at your phone, watching the the estimated delivery time with hungry eyes.

"Well... Let's drop by Lux and have a talk with Lucifer Morningstar later, shall we?"
