CHAPTER 71
DAVID HERINGER
IVY STARTED FEELING the contractions:
— David, it's time.
David took her to the outpatient clinic he'd had in his London office building.
— It's the best feeling in the world, honey.
— Don't say anything, you need to rest and concentrate.
Norman had followed the entire pregnancy and advised that there were no more natural births at that time, but Ivy was effusive about it.
— David — Brady called out — I really need to have a cesarean, a normal birth is too dangerous.
— She chose that way, Norman, I have to respect her will, she knew all the risks.
— I don't understand your stubbornness, you know?
— It's not stubbornness, it's faith.
— If she dies, I just want to hear your justification for your faith.
DAVID WAS HOLDING Ivy's hand:
— Strength dear.
Ivy was fighting with all her might, but the baby hadn't turned over in her womb, now it was simply a fight for their lives. Norman was trying to force it, but he decided to break their will.
— Get him out of here — he ordered two security guards who entered the room.
— You're crazy, I want...
Norman gave him an injection that put him to sleep almost immediately.
Four nurses were holding Ivy.
— Sorry sweetheart, but it's all or nothing.
DAVID WOKE SLOWLY and saw his son Brian sitting next to him.
— How long was I out?
— About fifteen minutes.
David heard the baby cry.
— God is good — he said while holding his son's shoulders — it all worked out... it all worked out...
David ran to the operating room and pushed one of the security guards and walked in and saw Ivy who was sleepy and gave her the most beautiful smile he had ever seen.
— He's handsome, David… he's got his smile.
David walked past Norman and said:
— We'll talk later.
IVY HOLD THE SON IN HIS LAP and smiled at him, David stood beside him and caressed him.
— Have you decided what your name will be yet?
Ivy looked at his innocent little face and said:
— His name will be Nathan... Nathan Heringer, the man who will change the world we know...
Ivy placed him in David's arms and said,
— Love you....
Suddenly, Ivy started having complications and died...
It took DAVID A FEW SECONDS to understand and absorb what was happening to his wife when he heard a noise and a savage he knew very well opened the door and said:
— Sorry, Mr. Heringer — said Chain — but we must leave immediately or a war will break out over your son.
DAVID SAW THE BODY of his beloved being cremated and this time his departure was real...
I was the happiest man in the world by your side...
— It's now or never, David...
He nodded and knew exactly where he should go...
