Chapter 129 - Elizabeth Walsh

Lena's stomach does an absolutely massive flip as soon as a few results come up for her mother, Elizabeth Walsh. But eventually, after Lena gains some composure, she begins to read all the information, but as she does, her world falls apart. Lena reads how her mother was fascinated with ancient artifacts, and had somehow come into contact with Leviathan, to possibly ask for their help to attain said artifacts. In the files Lex theorises that it's possible Elizabeth Walsh was able to get in contact with Leviathan through Lionel Luthor. Lena then continues to read the file, and after a few more minutes, she comes across some final information that destroys her.

As soon as Lena finishes reading those final sentences, she almost falls out of her chair, her heart broken, completely devastated. Lena had thought that Leviathan has only recently impacted her life in a negative way, but she now knows that the secret organisation has been effecting it for years. Lena is certain, without a shadow of a doubt, that Leviathan are the ones who killed her mother. It explains things in Lena's mind as to how her mother seemed to drown in a lake with calm waters, despite her being a good swimmer. It was Leviathan that took her mother away from her.

Once Lena finishes this thought in her head, she bursts into tears, everything being overwhelming right now.

"Lena I...." Alex says, walking in a few moments later, having finished her phone call, but pausing as soon as she notices Lena crying, "Lena, what's wrong?"

Alex goes running over to Lena, and tries to look her in the face, but all she sees is absolute devastation on the brunette's face. Alex realises that Lena must have read something in the files that caused this. So, Alex does the only thing she can think of, and takes Lena in for a hug.

"It's going to be okay, Lena. I'm here." Alex says, hugging her future sister tightly, wondering if these files contain something wicked from Lex Luthor that has triggered this emotional reaction in Lena.

"They killed her..... Leviathan killed her." Lena mutters into Alex's chest, as she continues to cry.

At first Alex thought she misheard Lena, and that the brunette said 'him' instead of 'her', thinking Lena must be talking about her father. However, as soon as Lena said 'her' a second time, Alex knew she didn't mishear anything.

"Killed who?" Alex asks, confused.

"E.... Elizabeth Walsh...... my mom...." Lena sobs.

Alex's eyes go wide at Lena telling her this, realising this must have completely and utterly devastated Lena's world.

"I'm sorry Lena.... I'm so sorry." Alex says, as she continues to hug Lena, deciding she will do what she told Lena a few months ago, and be her sister, being a person for her to cry with, and hug, when things are rough.

As Lena continues to cry, a variety of thoughts and feelings flood through her mind. Not only is Lena upset over the information that Leviathan killed her mom, but angry too. Lena is angry that her mother ever thought working with an organisation like Leviathan was a good idea in the first place. Lena thinks that her mom, who she has held in such high regard all her life, should have known better than that. Lena thinks that her mom should have protected them both better. But Lena is also angry because from reading this information, it is clear that Lex has known about her mom, and the truth of what happened to her, for a long time now. It enrages and upsets Lena to think that Lex never even mentioned it. In fact, Lena has so many emotions and thoughts flooding through her mind right now, that she honestly doesn't know what to do, other than cry, or which emotions to feel. Lena is completely and utterly overwhelmed, like she has never been before.

Alex and Lena continue to hug for a long while, with Lena still crying throughout it all. Eventually, as Lena continues to cling onto Alex, the redhead frees one of her arms, and is able to send a text to Alex, due to her actually having access to the L-Corp WIFI, even though she has no phone signal in Lena's lab.

Lena just found out some upsetting news. We are in her lab. Could you come down and see us?

Of course! I'll be right there.

What's the news?

I don't want to say over the phone.

Okay, I'll be a few minutes.

Once Alex has texted Sam, she decides she should text Kara also, even though she doesn't want to disturb Kara's day out with Alura and Ruby. However, Alex ultimately knows that no matter what, Kara would want to be informed of anything about Lena.

Kara, I thought I should tell you, the files finished decrypting, and Lena read something which has made her very upset.

What? What did she read?

I don't want to say over the phone.

Is she okay?

No. Not really. She's been hugging me and crying for the last several minutes now.

Rao. Okay.

Once Ruby, Alura and I have finished with this last thing, we'll be heading home.

Promise me you'll take good care of her until I get back. Even if she says she wants to be alone, don't listen to her.

I promise Kara. I won't leave her side.

Good. See you soon. Tell Lena I love her.

Okay.

Alex slides her phone back into one of her pockets, and goes back to wrapping both her arms around the still crying brunette, continuing to hug her.

"Lena, Sam is going to come down and see you in a few minutes, and Kara is coming home now. She told me to tell you she loves you." Alex says, in a quiet voice.

"I.... I don't want to..... disturb anyone...." Lena says, in a timid voice.

"You aren't." Alex replies, "We all care for you, and love you, Lena. We all want to be here for you."

"I love you too, Alex." Lena says, and then seems to cry even harder than before.

For Lena, the reason she does end up crying harder, is upon hearing Alex tell her she loves her, it made things hurt worse, because she thought about how much she felt her mom loved her, and how much she still loves her mom.
