Chapter 189 - Cat Grant's 5AM Call

Currently it is the middle of the night, and Kara and Lena are cuddled up in bed. However, the fiancés are soon disturbed by the sound of their youngest daughter walking into their bedroom, and crying slightly.

"M....Morgan?" Kara calls out, being the first one to wake up and realising what is going on.

"Momma.... jeju.... I had a bad dream...." Morgan cries, as she walks over to Kara's side of the bed, "I dreamed that the bad people were coming for me.... like they did for my parents."

"Oh, darling." Lena says, now having woken up herself, "That isn't going to happen. That's just a dream."

"Yeah." Kara agrees.

"I'm scared." Morgan says, still lightly crying.

"Do you want to hop up and come sleep with momma and I?" Kara asks.

"Yeah." Morgan nods, with a shaky breath.

"Okay, come on. Hop up." Lena says, as she opens the covers for Morgan.

Morgan then climbs onto the bed, moving over Kara's body, before settling down under the covers in the middle of Kara and Lena.

"There we go, darling." Lena says, as she strokes some hair out of Morgan's face.

Morgan then settles in the bed, cuddling closer to Lena, with Kara moving over to get close to Morgan too. Kara knows from experience that after having a bad dream, it feels nice to have stuff all around you, as it makes you feel safe.

"Go back to sleep, baby." Kara says, as she places a kiss on the top of Morgan's head, "Momma and I are here. You won't have any more bad dreams tonight."

"Okay." Morgan says, now in a tired voice, "Love you."

"Love you too." Kara says.

"Sleep well, my darling. I love you, so much." Lena says, as she strokes one of Morgan's cheeks.

The trio then all settle in the bed, with Morgan soon falling asleep, followed by both Kara and Lena.

It is now a few hours later, about 5AM National City time, and Kara is woken by the sound of her phone ringing on her nightstand. As Kara wakes up, and is disturbed from her sleep, her first thought is that it must be some sort of emergency that requires Supergirl, as no one else would dare ring her at 5 in the morning, when she has been happily sleeping in her bed cuddled with her future wife, and her youngest daughter. However, as Kara grabs her phone, and actually looks at it, she realises she is wrong, there is one person on Earth who would dare to ring her at 5AM on a Sunday morning.

"Hhmmmm.... hello.... Miss Grant?" Kara answers, with a tired grumble, as she stands up from the bed and makes her way out of the bedroom, not wanting to disturb Lena and Morgan, like the phone call has disturbed her.

"Keira, you're awake, good!" Cat says.

Kara sighs.

"Do you know what time it is?" Kara grumbles.

"Yes, Keira, and it's even later, or earlier, here, depending on how you put it. But like they say, the early bird catches the worm and what not." Cat replies.

Kara sighs again.

"If you are going to call me this early, and disturb me from my sleep, you could at least call me my actual name." Kara says.

"Fine, if I must, KARA." Cat says, stressing the pronunciation of Kara's name.

"Hmmm.... so what are you calling me about?" Kara asks.

"Yes, right." Cat says, "So, I have already spoken to your boss, Jess, but I wanted to let you know personally. I am sending over a bright young reporter prospect. She reminds me a lot of yourself."

"Okay, does she have a name?" Kara asks.

"Yes, Nia. Nia Nal, I believe." Cat says, "She's being doing some intern work for me as press secretary here in DC, but I thought she would be better suited at CatCo."

"Okay." Kara says, "But.... I presume you are telling me all this for another reason, rather than just letting me know of Nia's existence, and that she used to work for you."

Cat now sighs, very dramatically.

"Do I have to spell it out to you, Keira." Cat says, once more saying Kara's name wrong, "I want you to take the girl under your wing. You can consider this a favour to me. She has a tendency to ramble when she is nervous just like you, so I'm sure the two of you will get on fine."

"Alright. Fine." Kara says, "I guess.... I'll meet her tomorrow... and see how things go."

"Good. Thank you, Kara." Cat replies.

"If that is all.... I'd like to get back to sleep now." Kara says.

"Oh, but you're awake now Kara, you should cease the moment." Cat says.

"Goodnight, Miss Grant." Kara says.

"Wait, there is one more thing." Cat says.

"Yes, what?" Kara asks, with a sigh.

"I've told Nia that you'll be able to get her in touch with Supergirl." Cat says, "She has told me she needs to get in touch with her."

"What? Why?" Kara asks.

There is no response from Cat.

"Hello?" Kara says.

Kara then looks at her phone, and sees that Cat has ended the call.

"Oh, for Rao's sake." Kara says, while shaking her head, thinking this is just typical Cat Grant.

Kara then decides to just head back to bed, and turn her phone off, not wanting to be disturbed any further. Thankfully, it doesn't take Kara that long to fall back to sleep, which she thinks is mostly due to the fact she gets to cuddle with Morgan and Lena, two of the people she loves most in the world.

***************

It is now bright and early on Monday morning, and Kara has just walked into the elevator that will take her up to the CatCo floor of the building. Today, Kara knows that she will meet this Nia Nal that Cat mentioned to her, for the first time, and Kara feels a bit nervous about it. Kara doesn't feel nervous simply about meeting the rookie reporter, but about the fact that Nia wants to get in touch with Supergirl for some reason. Kara is very aware that Cat knows that she is Supergirl at this point, so while she doubts Cat would give away her secret identity, she does worry about why exactly Nia needs to get in touch with her in the first place, as she knows it must be for a good reason if Cat is sending her to her. However, Kara knows that all she can really do is be herself, and do her job, both as Kara, CatCo reporter, and as Supergirl, the superhero, and hope that both parts of herself can help this Nia in some way or other.

"Hold the elevator!" A female voice calls out to Kara.

In response, Kara quickly puts her arm in between the closing elevator doors, to stop them from closing completely.

"Thank you." The female voice says, holding two cups of coffee in her hands.

"That's okay." Kara smiles.
