"Just say what you want to say, don't beat around the bush. I know you're Loki, but you're probably not into playing tricks on others!"
At this moment, only Asahi and Loki were left in the room. The others had already left, not daring to eavesdrop, knowing that this was a conversation meant for the higher-ups. Despite their absence, no one could ever forget that Loki was a god, the very core of the Familia.
In this world, while Loki carried the name of a trickster god, she didn't embody the malevolence typically associated with it. Asahi was about to cut straight to the chase, knowing that Loki wasn't one to keep secrets from him.
"Straightforward, as expected. So, let's get to it. You've traveled to other worlds, so tell me, is there a world where my children can escape the limitations of their lifespan?"
"Of course, I won't be asking for this for free. If you can provide us with this, I'll compensate you in any way I can!"
Loki had genuine affection for her Familia members, something that couldn't be erased. Many gods, upon descending to the mortal world, experienced this attachment, like Hestia with Bell.
To be honest, at first, Asahi agreed with Bell's character, but as the story progressed, his feelings changed. He lost all sympathy for Bell and even grew to dislike him.
Early on, Bell seemed like a saint, but later, he became more of a hypocrite.
"I've traveled through many, many worlds, and in those worlds, there are indeed ways to break free from the limitations of mortality. But Loki, do you know? You're too weak!"
"And I'm not just talking about you as a god with sealed divine power. I mean all gods, even this entire world. In my eyes, this world is so fragile that even a slight release of my aura could cause it to crumble. So, tell me, what could possibly excite me here?"
Asahi asked with a slight smile. He did have many options, but why should he? While he had spent some time with the members of the Loki Familia, their relationship hadn't developed to the point where he felt compelled to help them.
There was still a distance between them. Asahi had helped many people across the worlds he had visited, even researching ways to grant immortality, but that was always based on those individuals earning his friendship.
Without that bond, there was no incentive that will be able to tempt him.
"That's certainly a shocking statement, but I believe you. After all, you can travel between worlds, which is absolute proof of what you're saying. It seems I really can't think of a solution on my own!"
Loki didn't think Asahi was lying. She knew from the start that they were on entirely different levels, and the cold indifference he carried wasn't something that could be faked.
But now she was at a loss, unable to think of anything valuable to offer in exchange. Why would Asahi help her? She felt truly helpless.
"I have something that could allow anyone to transcend, to completely remove the limitations of mortality, but I don't need anything in return. If you want these things, then work on becoming my friend."
"If you become my friend, I'll naturally give gifts to my friends. Of course, this only applies if the person is pure-hearted. I don't want anyone approaching me with ulterior motives, understood?"
After Asahi finished speaking, Loki nodded in agreement. She understood that a being like Asahi, capable of effortlessly destroying a world, would find little of value here. His goals were simpler, only reachable through things like genuine friendship.
"Well, this does solve one of our problems!"
Loki remarked with a sigh. "After all, forcing things never leads to anything sweet, right? Some things are about fate, and when the time is right, they will come. Don't be too greedy."
Asahi chuckled at this, "Exactly. I can't possibly build a friendship with the entire Loki Familia, so you're overthinking it. Trying to care for everyone isn't realistic."
Loki seemed exasperated but accepting. "It's frustrating, but this is enough for now. By the way, do you consider us friends?"
She pointed at herself, asking directly. As gods, they had reached a plateau, invincible in their own right, only to discover that higher realms of power existed. Naturally, this knowledge sparked a desire to reach those greater heights.
"No," Asahi replied with a smile, taking a sip of tea.
Loki feigned a wounded expression. "That's truly heartbreaking. We've already considered you a friend!"
Asahi set down his cup, his tone light but firm, "Well, enough joking around. I'm going for a walk. See you later!"
With that, Asahi left, leaving Loki to regain her composure. Her earlier demeanor had been playful, but now she was contemplative.
"It seems the Familia members need to figure something out. As long as I don't reveal my intentions, it should be fine. With their current situation, if they genuinely become friends with someone, there won't be any ulterior motives involved!"
Loki wasn't too worried. The senior members in her Familia weren't the type to feign friendship for superficial gains. Even Ais, who sought strength above all else, wouldn't compromise her integrity.
Asahi's words were a warning against superficial connections. It was fine to have goals, but friendships had to be genuine. That was the simple truth.
Loki, having lived for millions of years, knew well what Asahi meant. She planned to share this insight with the key members of her Familia, encouraging them to build a real connection with Asahi.
What rewards might come from such relationships would be another matter entirely. When it came to schemes, if gods ever truly went mad, mortals wouldn't stand a chance. But no god who had lived for so long would be foolish enough to turn into an idiot.
Of course, there were always exceptions due to unique personalities, but those were another matter entirely.
At that moment, Asahi left the Loki Familia, stepping into the world outside. As he wandered, he encountered many of the prominent female characters of this world, taking in the sights and experiences around him.
