Chapter 905 The Fearsome Power of Divinity

"That surge of power just now felt similar to divine power's fluctuations. In the War Games, gods can create divine mirrors using their divine power, and the waves from those mirrors are quite akin to what we just saw." Riveria observed, her keen senses attuned to energy attacks quickly detecting the anomaly.

"Divine power? If that's the case, it must have been Ais unintentionally channeling divine power. We don't possess divine power ourselves, but we do have the divinity granted by Asahi-san. That explains it. Still, this divine power… it's truly incredible!"

Looking at the decapitated Lord of Cinders before them, Finn found it hard to believe. They had to exert all their strength to fight him previously, and now, after an intense battle, they managed to bring him down.

However, the Lord of Cinder soon stood back up again.

"Ais, try it again! See if you can summon that power intentionally. Try to recapture that feeling!"

Finn held the Lord of Cinder at bay and urged Ais to attempt another divine attack. But Ais's earlier success had been accidental, and she had no way to control the divine power within.

Despite her best efforts, nothing happened. Frustrated, Ais activated her magic instead and rejoined the battle. Seeing her struggle, Finn realized he had been overly optimistic. After all, divine power wasn't something mortals could wield so easily.

Moreover, if one person in their group could draw upon divine power, the same might be possible for others. Finn tried it himself, but it felt like a stone sinking into the sea, and he couldn't stir the energy at all.

Meanwhile, the Lord of Cinder, now in its third phase, became exponentially more powerful. Where they had previously been able to fight evenly, the Loki Familia now found themselves completely outmatched, pushed to their limits.

When one of his comrades was on the brink of being slain, Finn felt a sudden surge within his body. An immense energy poured into his weapon, and he unleashed a devastating strike.

At that moment, Finn was wielding the Nameless King's Lightning Spear. A golden bolt of lightning shot out like a beam, instantly piercing the Lord of Cinder and obliterating half its body.

The Lord of Cinders lost its third life, leaving only one remaining. However, Finn himself was left bewildered by what had just transpired.

He had acted out of desperation and had no idea how he had summoned such power. For the first time, he understood Ais's earlier confusion, as he genuinely didn't know what he had done.

"Was that also a divine power? To amplify the power of lightning to this extent… it's terrifying!"

Everyone was stunned. Ais's earlier strike, while powerful, was purely physical. Finn's attack, however, unleashed a raw surge of energy, creating a truly terrifying spectacle.

"Don't ask me how I did it, I have no idea. I was anxious and just decided to give it a shot. Maybe it's because I was under so much pressure that it triggered the divinity. But how could something like this happen so easily?"

Finn's tone was frustrated. He had a theory that it was the life-and-death tension, combined with the urge to protect his comrades, that had allowed him to tap into the divine power.

But this wasn't something he wanted to rely on. The idea of needing to be in such dire circumstances to use that power was not a comforting one.

Yet the Lord of Cinder didn't give them time to ponder. It quickly reformed and rose again, resuming the battle.

"Damn it! How many lives does this thing have? Can it really not be killed? And it just keeps getting stronger!"

The sight of the Lord of Cinders rising once more left everyone drenched in cold sweat. What had started as a manageable fight had turned into an overwhelming struggle.

The creature's ability to revive endlessly and grow stronger with each resurrection was utterly absurd.

Everyone realized that if they allowed their focus to waver, they would be finished. Distractions were fatal in a battle of this intensity.

Now, with its strength amplified after three resurrections, the Lord of Cinder had reached a terrifying level. Every attack from the monster required immense effort to parry, and even then, their defenses often fell short.

Those hit were sent flying, smashing into the air with brutal force. Fortunately, their weapons, infused with special souls from this world, held up against the relentless assaults.

Without these enhanced weapons, their gear would have long since been destroyed. If their weapons broke, they would stand no chance of survival.

Grace's shield was nearly knocked aside by a single blow from the enemy. Despite specializing in defense and strength, he could barely withstand the monstrous greatsword.

The group found themselves utterly overwhelmed, battered to the brink of despair. But at this critical moment, the two mages proved their worth.

Much like Finn and Ais's accidental use of divine energy earlier, the mages managed to channel divinity, infusing it into their spells. Their fire-based attacks transformed into pure black flames, and their fire lances gained speed and began spinning like drills.

Two spells hurtled toward the Lord of Cinders with such speed that it had no time to react. The black flames obliterated its head, and the rest of its body was incinerated into ash.

"It seems you both tapped into divinity just in time. If you hadn't, things would've ended poorly for us!"

Finn remarked, clutching his bleeding shoulder. Their melee fighters were in terrible shape, and Bete had narrowly avoided losing a leg, with the bone of his wounded limb partially exposed.

Thankfully, they had Estus Flasks and panacea to heal their wounds quickly. Even so, everyone remained wary, keeping a close watch on the scorched remains of the Lord of Cinder.

However, even after waiting for a long while, the Lord of Cinders didn't resurrect again.

"Is it over? Was that thing supposed to have four lives?"

With no sign of further revival, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed the battle was truly over, and the defeat of this foe was a victory well-earned.

"It looks like we've dealt with it. Let's call the Fire Keeper over now. Whether these flames are of any use, we'll leave it for her to determine. If the flames can be harnessed, they could help someone rapidly ascend in strength. But to what degree? That remains unknown." Finn said after thinking for a moment.

In this new world, the significance of the flames had dwindled. If they could no longer serve their original purpose, perhaps it was best to fuse them into someone who could use them effectively, which is a practical, albeit ruthless, solution.

The Fire Keeper herself had long since given up on saving this world. It was beyond redemption, reduced to a place of perpetual decay, where survival was the only option left.
