CHAPTER FORTY

"Can you walk?" he asked, his voice strangely soft as if he had no idea what had happened to her, or wasn't the source of her state.

She nodded and he let her go. She stumbled forward and slowly walked toward Lorenzo, her legs heavy. Her eyes stayed focused on him as she made her way to the door.

She didn't move or say anything as he continued to stare at her.

When she walked through the door, Lorenzo's cold voice stopped her dead in her tracks.

"Don't even think of running."

She didn't look at him when she nodded. Oh, he had no idea that she had been given the opportunity to make it out of his environment.

However, she wouldn't because leaving would mean that she didn't want to continue with the mission, which wouldn't go well with Luca.
