I was walking down the hall when Amber’s bedroom door burst open and she ran out into the hall, sobbing and retching. 


I jumped back to avoid getting hit by her swinging door. 


She slumped against the nearest wall, tears smearing what was left of her gorgeous wedding makeup. Seeing her so distraught, I couldn’t stay mad at her. Not at that moment. 


“Amber, what’s wrong?” I asked. I went to her. I raised a hand, reaching for her, then quickly dropped it.
