Chapter 218: Meeting of Minds

The decision wasn’t made on a whim but was the right thing to do. Despite everything that happened in our less-than-glorious past, we did have a child together, and that counted for a lot.

Despite my personal feelings, which somewhat morphed over the years, she was still Carl’s mother, and I had to make sure she was getting the best care possible.

The driver found a place to park in the hospital lot, just barely fitting the armored SUV into a spot designed for a standard sedan. Then again, who was going to argue?

I hopped down to the pavement, closing the door in one smooth movement. The driver followed close behind to go and pay for the parking.

The cafeteria wasn’t that depressing considering the context. The food actually smelled pretty good which was an advantage. I hadn’t eaten for nearly a day and indulged in a hot turkey sandwich while I waited.

“So, how mad was Olivia?” Jesse asked, appearing beside my table.

“Are you sure you want to know?” I asked.
