It was an ass-kicking, plain and simple. Luke in no way held back, making sure we made the most of the time we had. There were still two more days before we left but we would need all the practice we could get for what we’d up against. 


After having us spar with him so we could learn what we would need, he also had us spar with each other. It was a struggle not to pull our punches, but we both managed to go full-on, stopping right before things got properly dangerous, while still knowing that we could follow through if it came to it. 


No such restraint was needed when we started to go at the combat dummy, which really got put through the wringer, first me, then Ellis giving it our all, beating the bejesus out of it. 


Beaten to hell ourselves but in a much better way, we called it a day and supported each other as we went down the hall for a shower.
