Teddy really came through for me again. I don’t know how he managed to get all that just with a computer. Technology was really something else. It all made me think about being even more careful with my own shit. I could see why the old guys kept everything analog. Two sets of books, on paper–actual paper.

I had gotten lucky that Teddy was on my side. If the situation were reversed, and this guy had Teddy, I would have been fucked. I needed to give that guy another bonus and keep him happy. I wondered if he was interested in racehorses. I had a lead on one that everybody said could not lose. And she was beautiful too–Sugar Smacks, or some shit like that.
