Sara
Jaxon and I sat in an uneasy silence. Dana tapped her foot against the ground and seemed just as awkwardly uncomfortable. I fiddled with the spoon in my teacup.
"Are you sure? I don’t want to leave you and Camilla if there’s trouble. I can stay with Camilla. I can help," Dana offered.
I resisted the urge to scoff. She had proven the night before with all her crying and cowering just how much ‘help’ she could be. I couldn’t blame her. I figured that’s how most civilians would act, but I didn’t want to keep around another person that we’d have to protect. Whatever this was I knew she would only be in the way and I didn’t want to be responsible for her life as well.
"Yes, we are sure. We want you to be safe, Dana. Whatever this is, it’s aimed at us, not you. Just go pack a bag and be safe with your friends. We’ll keep you posted and let you know when it’s over," I said, trying to keep my voice as sweet as I could.
Jaxon nodded.
