Jaxon
I stared at the garage door long after I knew she had driven away. I felt numb and cold. I barely registered when my phone rang in my pocket. I pulled it out without looking at it and kept my eyes on the garage.
"Yes?" I asked.
"Jaxon, I saw you called a bit ago. Is everything alright?" Marino sounded a bit panicked.
"Actually, things are pretty fucking far from alright."
I explained to him everything that had happened. I told him about Dana’s suggestion that Sara and I should go on a date. I explained about the children, Dana’s disappearance and my horrible fight with Sara.
Every word felt like I was making the wound bigger. Repeating the terrible things Sara had said to me and I said to her felt like nails in my coffin. I couldn’t lose her too. I knew I couldn’t survive without her.
