I still felt giddy and my hand was burning from Michael’s touch. I felt like I was still coming down from an amazing high. He continued playing with my fingers with one hand while he drove.

I turned back and forth from him to the window as he drove the familiar path home. He kept smiling at me, and I felt like my cheeks were on fire.

I felt a bit like a little girl, pouting and not wanting our playdate to end. But I stayed quiet and let Michael drive. I didn’t want to do anything to make him think of me like a little girl. I was happy he never seemed to.

As he pulled into the parking lot, I leaned in closer to him. He parked and then put his arms around me.

He kissed me deeply and held me close. It took everything I had to keep my clothes on and not take him in the car, but I knew that wouldn’t be right. His daughter was waiting, and I had a job to do. Liz had been covering for me long enough.
