*Harper POV*
“Do your business, Cocoa,” I urged the little dog. We’d gone out for a walk in the neighborhood and when we were just coming back, she kept acting like she needed to go, so I let her off the leash in the back yard, hoping she’d get it done. I really needed to get to the store before it closed. Cocoa was sniffing around, taking her time.
I started tapping my foot impatiently. I guess I should have gone to the store before the walk. I thought about taking her inside and just letting her go out her doggie door to her special yard area, but I was afraid she’d have an accident all over the expensive rug before she made it that far.
I didn’t want to clean up that mess.
“Come on, come on,” I muttered. I really needed to get going. I swear, Cocoa knew when I was trying to leave and dragged it out so I wouldn’t.
I heard a yelp and whipped around just in time to see Cocoa fall into the pool. She yipped and splashed, doggy paddling to the edge.
