“A Mistake? What do you mean?” I asked. I crossed my arms.
“I mean, I shouldn’t have let things go this far,” he said firmly.
“You shouldn’t have let things go? This was something we both wanted,” I said, pointing to the messy bed.
“Yes, I wanted it. I wanted you. But it was wrong. You’re the same age as my daughter,” he pointed out.
“Oliver…”
He held a hand up to silence me.
“Please accept my sincerest apologies. I should have stopped things before they led to this. It was very inappropriate of me,” he said.
“Why, because you’re seeing someone else?” I asked. I took a step toward him, and he held up his hands like I was going to attack him or something.
“That’s not the issue,” he insisted. “I should leave.” He headed to the front door.
“Wait,” I said. I went after him and grabbed his arm in the crook of his elbow.
“Harper, please don’t make a big deal out of this,” he said.
“But it is a big deal, isn’t it?” I asked.
