Once Brooke was able to get Paige alone, she didn’t come clean about her change in attitude towards Penn. She kept saying that they shouldn’t trust him. It was frustrating.
Feeling better, Brooke went t work the next day, but Paige’s attitude bugged her. She spent a lot of time looking over her shoulder on her way to work. She didn’t notice anyone suspicious, but between the murder, the break-in, and Penn showing up at a convenient moment, Brooke no longer know what to think. Maybe she was just losing it.
“You okay?” her co-worker, Della, asked.
“Do I seem off? Sorry.”
“You were a little short with that small girl. That isn’t like you.”
Brooke searched for the girl in the library. She would have to apologize for her behavior. “Did I?”
“She’s gone, but I don’t think she took your tone the wrong way. What’s going on? Josh’s murder getting to you?”
“They haven’t solved it yet.”
Della grimaced. “This isn’t television. It takes time.”
