Brooke’s walk was refreshing and she was able to calm down after the attempted abduction. Even with Roger trailing behind her, she felt as if she were alone. That was exactly what she needed. 


Penn had been quiet on the way home and she had left him alone with his thoughts. She’d been traumatized by the situation, but she’d made a promise to him and she would keep it.


Her growing feelings for Penn were real also and she needed some space from him because of them. Not even the size of the house had been enough space for her to be alone with her thoughts. 


When Brooke reached the front driveway, she paused as a woman came out of the house. She’d never seen this woman before today. If she was in the house then Penn must know her and it wasn’t any of Brooke’s business. 


She’d planned on waiting at the edge of the trees for the woman to drive away, but she was spotted.
