Trinity sat at the table, stacking the missing posters in a neat pile beside her.
"Trinity." her mom said. "Those aren't necessary."
Trinity ignored her and continued to stack papers. Her father came from the kitchen with a towel draped over his shoulder.
"Why would they not be? He's my brother and you're his parents!" Trinity snapped. "Don't you want him home?"
Her mother sighed. "Of course I do, but his father wanted him back home with him. You will see him again someday."
"You never did tell me who his father was."
"You wouldn't believe us." her father whispered.
Trinity looked up at him and folded his arms. "Try me."
Her parents share a look. Her mother's expression was, Honey, I don't think now is the time.
Her fathers was, But she needs to know!
"Well?" Trinity huffed. "Who is he?"
Her mother swallowed. "Do you know the Greek Gods?"
Trinity had a feeling she knew where this was going, but she decided to play along. "Of course I do."
"Well, Keith's father is Zeus."
"Wait. Wait." Trinity laughed. "You're telling me that the Greek gods, the ones from the myths are real?"
Her parents glared at each other.
Trinity put the back of her hand against her mother's forehead. "Are you not feeling well?"
Her mother smacked her hand away. "I'm feeling quite fine, doc. Do you think we're kidding about Keith's father?"
Before Trinity could answer, there came a knock at the door. Her mother's furious expression turned into a blank one before going to open the door.
"Ah, yes. Come in."
A man stepped into the room wearing a black tuxedo and pants. His silver hair was pulled back into a sleek ponytail.
Trinity folded her arms. "Who are you?"
"The best question to ask is what am I?" the man smiled down at her then went to go take a seat on the couch. "I've come to tell you that Keith is alive and well."
"You still haven't answered my question."
The man nodded. "Zeus. God of thunder. A pleasure to meet you, Trinity." he motioned for her parents to join him on the couch.
Trinity stared warily at the man. There's no way this man was a God. Weren't they supposed to be all-powerful?
"How is Keith? Is he alright?" her mother asked, worry clouding her face.
Zeus sighed. "He is, for the time being. But his body has been taken over by Blade." Zeus massaged her temples. "It won't be long before Keith is lost to us."
"What do you mean by that?" Trinity asked. "If you're his father, why didn't you protect him? Why didn't you stop this?"
Her father grabbed her wrist and gave her the cool-down glare.
"It was too late for me to do anything. By time I had reached him he already turned." he wiped a tear off his cheek. "But I also come with a warning. Kronos is sending all his allies above ground. They're trying to lure us out to start a war."
Trinity's frowned. "It won't be hard, now that he has Keith as a bargaining chip."
"Have you located the weapons?" her mother asked. "If so, we can go and retrieve them for you."
Zeus shook his head. "Those are much too powerful for a mortal to handle. But you must get everyone out of the area as fast as you can."
"You say that like being a mortal is a bad thing." Trinity snarled.
Zeus's eyebrows went up. He glanced at her parents. "Wait, she doesn't know?"
Trinity looked between her parents, who were avoiding her gaze. "What is he talking about? What am I supposed to know?"
Zeus got to his feet. "Child, you're no mortal."
What? Trinity turned back to her parents. "Ma? Pa? What's he talking about?"
Her father licked her lips nervously. "I'm sorry, Ti Ti. I wish I told you sooner." he hid his face in his hands. "I'm so, so sorry."
Zeus moved toward her and pulled up her sleeve. Trinity was in too much shock to pull away. He pointed to the crescent mark on her forearm.
"Ever wonder what that means? What it stands for?"
Trinity blinked at him. "It's just a birthmark!"
"Correct." Zeus nodded, releasing her arm. "It is a birthmark. A mark for the daughter of Hecate, Goddess of magic."
