Chapter 12:story (part 12) The Final Wave (I)

The battlefield was a chaotic symphony of clashing steel, roaring flames, and the guttural cries of demons. The air was thick with the acrid smell of burning flesh and the metallic tang of blood. The ground trembled under the weight of thousands of footsteps, both human and demon, as the final wave of the battle began.

The king's voice had echoed across the battlefield, rallying his troops with unwavering resolve. **"Soldiers, this could be the final wave for this battle to end. Everyone, never hold back at all! Archers, random fire if necessary! Mages, it is time to fight—prepare some AOE skills! Everyone, prepare for wave four! Release!"**

The command was met with a thunderous roar from the human army. The soldiers, though weary from the previous waves, stood firm, their eyes burning with determination. This was it—the moment they had been preparing for. The final wave.

### The Tanks and Spear Wielders

The tanks at the front, their massive shields embedded in the ground from the relentless demon assaults, began to rise. With a collective grunt, they lifted their shields, the ground cracking as the heavy metal plates were freed from their earthen anchors. The formation shifted, splitting down the middle like a giant sword being unsheathed.

What emerged from behind the tanks was a sight to behold—a phalanx of spear-wielding soldiers, their weapons gleaming in the dim light. These were not ordinary soldiers; they were the elite, trained to pierce through the toughest of defenses.

The spear wielders moved with precision, their formation tight and disciplined. As the tanks fully opened the path, the spear soldiers surged forward, their spears pointed like the teeth of a massive beast ready to devour its prey.

Behind them, the hammer wielders, who had been holding the line against the previous waves, were now regrouping. Their massive weapons rested on their shoulders, their muscles taut with anticipation. The empty line they left was quickly filled by another wave of soldiers—sword wielders, their golden chest plates gleaming as they charged forward to support the spear wielders.

### The Mages and Archers

Atop the city walls, the archers and mages stood ready, their eyes locked on the approaching demon horde. The archers, their bows drawn and arrows nocked, waited for the command to fire. The mages, clad in robes that shimmered with mana, stood behind them, their staffs glowing with elemental energy.

The mages' robes were a sight to behold, each one a different color depending on their affinity. Some wore robes of fiery red, others icy blue, and still others earthy brown. Their staffs, topped with glowing orbs, crackled with power as they prepared their spells.

The demons were closing in fast, their grotesque forms becoming clearer with each passing second. The airborne demons, their black orbs clutched in their talons, were the most concerning. The king had anticipated their arrival and had ordered the mages to be ready.

### The Demon Archers' Assault

As the demons crossed the 500-meter mark, their archers unleashed a volley of dark arrows. The arrows, trailing black mist, soared through the air, aimed directly at the human army.

The king's voice rang out once more. **"Mages, intercept!"**

The mages raised their staffs, their eyes closing as they channeled their mana. The air around them shimmered as they activated their skills.

**[Golden Dome]**

**[Fire Barrier]**

**[Ice Barrier]**

**[Earth Shield]**

A multicolored dome of energy formed over the human army, its surface rippling with the combined power of the mages' spells. The dark arrows struck the dome, their explosions lighting up the battlefield.

**Boom!**

**Boom!**

**Boom!**

The dome held firm, absorbing the impact of the arrows. The shockwaves from the explosions reverberated across the battlefield, but the human soldiers remained unharmed, their expressions calm and focused.

The mages, their staffs still glowing, maintained the dome as the barrage of arrows continued. The demons' attacks were relentless, but the mages' defenses were unyielding.

### The Ground Battle

On the ground, the spear wielders had engaged the demon forces. The clash was brutal, the sound of metal against flesh echoing across the battlefield.

One spear soldier found himself facing three demons. The lead demon, wielding a sword, slashed at him with ferocious speed. The soldier blocked the attack with his spear, the force of the blow sending him back a meter.

The other two demons, both wielding spears, attacked simultaneously. The soldier activated his skill, **[Multiple Thrust]**, and stabbed forward. The air around his spear distorted as multiple thrusts appeared, each one striking the demons with pinpoint accuracy.

**Boom!**

The demons were sent flying, their hands blown apart by the force of the attack. But their regenerative abilities kicked in, new hands forming from the dark smoke that surrounded them.

Before the soldier could press his advantage, a black horizontal slash came at him from the side. He barely managed to block it, his spear forming an X in front of him. The force of the attack pushed him back, but he redirected it upward, causing it to explode harmlessly in the air.

The soldier didn't hesitate. He spun around, activating another skill. **[Whirlwind]**. A vortex of air formed around him, lifting the demons into the air. With a final thrust, he activated **[Wind Blast]**, sending the demons flying and killing one instantly.

The other two demons, though injured, were still alive. The soldier charged forward, his spear piercing through their heads with deadly precision.

### The Winged Demons

Above the battlefield, the winged demons were closing in, their black orbs glowing ominously. The archers on the walls took aim, their arrows glowing with elemental energy.

**"Fire!"**

A volley of arrows shot into the sky, their trajectories arching gracefully before descending on the winged demons. The arrows struck their targets, exploding in bursts of fire, ice, and lightning.

**Boom!**

**Boom!**

**Boom!**

The winged demons fell from the sky, their bodies disintegrating into black ash. But there were too many of them, and some managed to evade the arrows, their black orbs still clutched tightly in their talons.

### The Battle Rages On

The battlefield was a chaotic mess of clashing steel, roaring flames, and the guttural cries of demons. The human soldiers fought valiantly, their skills and weapons clashing with the relentless demon horde.

The spear wielders, supported by the sword wielders, held the line against the ground forces. The mages and archers on the walls provided cover, their spells and arrows raining down on the demons.

But the battle was far from over. The winged demons were still a threat, and the demon commanders were yet to reveal their full power.

The king, watching from the walls, knew that this was only the beginning of the final wave. The true test of strength was yet to come.
