Chapter 8

After unpacking the whole document, Camilla came back with the file, groaning loudly.

"Where was it?" He asked, collecting the file.

"I found it in the exact place I said I was going to find it," She said.

He shrugged and collected the file…

"Okay, now go to M&S company and ask the secretary for the project file,"

He told her, not even bordering to spare her a glance.

She was so mad that she didn't know when she stamped her leg on the floor angrily.

'I'm still Sweating, what is his problem?

Does he want to kill me before my time?'

She mumbled to herself.

"Sir, but I have to finish the other…"

She was interrupted by saying,

"What, are you telling me you aren't doing it?" He said, still looking at his laptop.

"No, I mean…"

His voice sounded again, which interrupted her.

"We should be closing this deal officially on Monday, what do you think?"

He said.

"I think that…"

She closed her mouth when she heard his last words.

"Okay, yes, yes it will be done thank you for your corporation sir," He said, then raised his face to look at her.

She now got sight of the ear plug on his leg ear.

Oh, he wasn't talking to me, she felt stupid for what she did.

"You can go," He dismissed her.

She nodded and headed straight to the company he told her to, using a cab.

She returned fast enough to continue what she was doing.

He had hidden the file in that carton intentionally, with the hope of making her suffer but she found it anyway, so he had to find a way to make her sweat some more.

*******

The workers in the company were preparing to go home already including Camilla.

She was still in her office, waiting for Larissa because they planned to hang out with each other after work.

Camilla hoped to tell Larissa the truth about her job today.

She waited close to forty-five minutes but she didn't come and it became late, scaring the hell out of her.

She picked up her purse and left her office, locking it behind. She decided to find a cab that would drop her home.

She was on her way downstairs when a male worker in her company called her back.

"Hi!!" He yelled after her.

She looked back and smiled when she saw a young man running towards her, wondering if she had met him before because his face looked familiar.

"How are you?" He smiled.

"I'm good, and you are?" She asked politely.

"Travis, your colleague at work. We met the other day, remember?" He said and stretched out his hands for a handshake.

"Ohhh," She smiled, recollecting where she saw him from.

"At the cafeteria right?" She asked.

"Sure, that you were rushing while eating," He smiled.

"Oh, no," She covered her face with her palms in embarrassment.

"Come on, my hands are still stretched," He funnily frowned his face.

"I'm Camilla," She smiled, accepting his hand.

"I knew you were Camilla," He confessed and she arched her brows, staring at him.

"How did you know that?" She questioned.

He shrugged and simply said,

"That's a story for another day," He smiled.

She returned the smile although not fully, still wondering how the young man in her presence knew her name.

Damien, who was passing by, stopped seeing them together.

"I shouldn't be feeling this way," He wondered, staring at them.

Their proximity and closeness are what's killing him.

"Has she ever smiled at me that way?" He thought, staring at her with hurt evident in his eyes.

His eyes turned darker immediately after he realized what he had been thinking, he shook his head and slapped himself countless times.

"I shouldn't be bothered about her because I've vowed to make her life unbearable," He wondered and let out a low laugh.

"I haven't started dealing with you," He muttered and left, heading towards his car.

That was when Camilla took notice of him, she heaved silently and faced Travis, but a car horn on the other side of the road stopped her from saying whatever she wanted to say.

She knew instantly that it was Larissa and she sighed and faced Travis.

"Bye Travis. I gotta go now, my best friend is here already, take care," She waved and ran towards Larissa.

"Sure, bye, you too thanks," Travis waved back, heading towards his car full of smiles.

*****

Damien was on his way home when he saw her running towards something or should he say, someone…

He lowered his window glass to check and was beyond shocked when he saw Larissa Delaney, The CEO of the popular L~Designs.

He quickly brought his head in and acted like he didn't see them.

"What exactly is going on?" He asked himself.

Camilla moved towards Larissa with a serious look on her face.

"Come on," She said, entering the car.

Larissa faced her beaming with smiles.

"Where to?" She inquired smilingly.

"Home," Camilla replied, nonchalantly.

"What?" Larissa screamed.

"I'll tell the driver to drive me alone then," Camilla shrugged.

Larissa entered the car quietly and Camilla felt bad instantly.

The driver revved the engines back to life and drove off.

"Look here babe, I also wanted to have a nice time with my best friend. But we can't possibly hang out by this time leaving mum alone at home, you should know how risky it is," She explained and Larissa's eyes widened.

"I'm sorry," Larissa apologised.

"What for?" Camilla inquired.

"For coming late and for being selfish. I didn't think about Evelyn," Larissa apologized.

"Come on, it's okay," Camilla said smiling

*******

Mrs Tyler was currently watching a movie on her phone.

Almost immediately, she heard a screeching of tyres and her heart jumped inside her stomach.

She kept her phone beside her.

"Who could it be?" Mrs Tyler asked herself, obviously scared.

Not like they were expecting anyone aside from Camilla and Larissa.

The knock on the door doubled her fear and they hugged her knees tightly...

"Isn't no one at home," Camilla screamed, hitting the door.

That was when she calmed down and went to open the door for them.

Her racing heart has calmed down.

"You both scared the living daylights out of me," She said, still checking her heartbeat.

"Oh come on, you shouldn't get scared easily," Larissa smiled.

"I'm famished," Camilla said, rubbing her stomach.

"Your dad called today," Mrs Tyler said and they both faced her in shock.

"Why, What for?" She asked, tears threatening to fall from her eyes.

"He said he didn't know your mum was planning something as deep as that," Mrs Tyler shrugged.

"He lied, When I found out, Mum told me he was part of the plan," She finally let out the tears she has been holding.

"Contract marriage! I mean my parents are planning my marriage with a stranger," She screamed annoyingly and stormed out of the house.

"Larissa!" Camilla yelled and ran after her.

"I hope all these problems come to an end?" She sighed tiredly.

Larissa was crying outside when Camilla came and sat beside her.

Camilla held her shoulders firmly and made her look straight into her eyes.

"You have to be brave," She said, fighting back her tears.

"At least, you know your dad," She smiled sadly, allowing her tears to pour out freely.

"But I don't," She said, shaking her head.

She sniffed and wiped her tears with her palm before facing her.

Larissa stared at her, allowing what she was saying to sink deep into her head.

"How do you think I feel whenever I see you sad? At least if not for anything, be happy for our sake. We are your second family please," Camilla said and Larissa hugged her tightly, allowing her tears to dampen Camilla's clothes.

"I'm fine now," She smiled widely, pulling out of the hug.

"I promise that I won't cry because of them again no matter what," She said dramatically, placing her palm in the air.

Her eyes widened when she remembered the way she spoke to Mrs Tyler

"I need to apologize to Mrs Tyler," She said and stood, before running into the house.

Camilla stood and dusted her clothes, she was about to go inside when she heard Larissa's screams.

"Mrs Tyler!" She heard Larissa's screams and her heart skipped a bit as she ran inside the house.
